18 and SouthernBelly,

I don't gamble. Trying to pick winners in the stock market is hard enough for me. If I did gamble, I would NOT put money down on us. That said, if we do lose to Coastal, Donati better go ahead and make a change. If he wants to wait until after the Clemson game, that will do. BUT, he fired legendary TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson after the 8th game of the season. Beamer has NEVER, prior to this year, fired a field coach in the middle of the season. I cannot prove it BUT I suspect Donati nudged Beamer to fire Teasley and Shula during the middle of this season. IF we lose to Coastal, it would not shock me to see Donati fire Beamer. It would be better for Beamer to have his name found in the Epstein files rather than lose to Coastal Carolina. But what might save Beamer to next year is the same thing that worked in his favor to get this job: his last name. I'd pull the trigger on the Nepo Baby if we lose to Coastal. But, that's me.

I am sure that Donati has a short list of possible replacements for Beamer. And I feel certain he won't settle for a proven FAILED coach nor for someone not have been thought highly enough to be made either an OC or DC, much less a Head Coach.
I am hoping your thoughts (and I think others) on Donati’s influence & approach are correct. Reason to suspect so, as he is the variable in all this. Beamer’s unwillingness to fire coaches has been puzzling. Only one he fired was Hardesty, and I never got letting go of the RB coach when it’s clear that OL is what it has been.

Also solid Epstein reference.

He doesn't have to trash them nor does he have to say they were good hires. He could just say he is going to re-evaluate everything at the end of the year. I think he did hint at that when asked what he would look for in a new OC.

I just hope he doesn't have to hire a new DC as well.
100% on the DC. Full disclosure, I hadn’t been completely sold on White until this year. Lot of up & down with the D his first 3 years. Last year I wasn’t sure how much was coaching, influx of talent and things finally clicking for some guys. But he replaced a ton of talent this year and the D is understandably not as good as last season but it’s a very serviceable unit.

And Hardesty was not fired until JANUARY 3, 2024. And remember that Beamer did not make a move on Satterfield. Nebraska took Satterfield off our hands. Firing in mid-season is out of character for Beamer. And Beamer, in the past, pre-Donati, has said he would evaluate coaches after the season completes. when questioned about a coach. That's why I believe Donati had a hand in Teasley and Shula's firings.

Not that I have any insider information, but Beamer sounds like he's dead man walking.

Perhaps indirectly at least. Beamer is likely feeling his seat warm up and a new AD isn't likely to be as forgiving as Ray. If Ray were AD, I suspect no changes would have been made.
