Pay special attention to the part where Rams head coach Dick Vermeil(who was 9-23 in St. Louis his first two years and was on the hot seat going into his third) talks about turning complete control of the Rams offense over to their new offensive coordinator Mike Martz. Rams ended up with the #1 offense in the NFL that year both in total offense and scoring offense. It was the biggest driving force behind the Rams going from 4-12 the previous year to 13-3 and Superbowl champs that year, all because a head coach who was coaching for his job hired a new assistant and completely trusted him to do his job.

The only way this works is if you(Beamer) get outta the way and let Kendal Briles run this offense exactly how he wants to run it. Briles had a track record that indicates he clearly knows what he's doing. So let him do his job.

Never heard Shula speak. Listening to Loggains and Satterfield speak didn’t exude confidence in their abilities. But with that said the offense under Beamer typically looks some form of sluggish so there’s a common factor there. With OC #4 does he remain hands off - as he should because it won’t be his offense.

I really feel like Beamer has operated under the assumption that he needed a guy with NFL ties/experience and the guys he got were the only guys of that ilk who would answer the call.
My hope is that he's finally realized that is the wrong approach. This hire signals that may be the case. I wish that light had come on a year earlier, but at least it seems to have come on.
