So when he goes 3-9 this year, where will that place him?I'd start with:
Win more games at the University of South Carolina than any other coach in 100+ years history in a more difficult ennvironment (NIL/Portal/Schedule) over a similar time frame.

Answering that serious question would only be met with derision.
What had Dabo done?
Eye of the beholder.

To drill down to the point, how are any of these answers/reasons compelling enough to convince VT administration, alumni, and fans that at this point of time when VT is at a crossroads that Beamer would stand out above any other considerations.Good question. Last years 9 win season is the only real answer.

You are talking about USC history correct ? There are plenty of other HC's who have a much better record in their first 50 games than SB.Pretty compelling as of today.
50+ games as a head coach and done it better than anymore else in history up until this point.
The players and media seem to love him.
The style of play as a whole has been far more enjoyable to watch than most (e.g. Muschamp, etc)
Va Tech Roots.
Young Guy from a coaching perspective.
Although it will never happen, I'd like to see what he could do with one of these $25-30+ million per year NIL budgets.

Since I am not privy to the Va Tech operating budget I can not speak to their financial situation. Not that are within Va Tech's grasp.

Your other reasons for Vt consideration were, players like him, and a more enjoyable watch. Which would be totally subjective.
VT roots.
So some decent considerations, but questionable if these would be truly compelling reasons to rule out all other applicants, which was the principal focus of my post.
So another addition to your list of posters who you deem to be "botman"I'm sorry but no one who attended Harvard University would communicate like this.
It's impossible.
Botman - How many of these characters do you have?
Unbelievable.![]()

You are making a very compelling argument for a lack of imagination.
Rave on.

I take it you're now "me" too? This is rather funny. I must be up to 10 or 15 posters by now.
I don't disagree with what you said there. I suppose I'm looking at tradition. Clemson seems to be falling off the edge like the Gators.Serious question… do we really still consider Florida to be a national brand? When’s the last time they were truly relevant in the SEC conversation? 2020 under Mullen when they backed their way into the SECCG? They haven’t been part of the championship conversation in the playoff era, that’s for sure.
I have no point really. It’s just funny to me how a program can continue to milk its national brand status 17 years after its last championship. SC has been relevant more recently than that.
How many you think he will win this year?I'd start with:

Am I a "Botman" yet?
What is the criteria?
Can you run my prior posts through your Botman detector and let me know how close I am?
Better than anyone else in history at SC is sort of a "tallest pygmy" type of compliment. You are talking about USC history correct ? There are plenty of other HC's who have a much better record in their first 50 games than SB.

I think his name is the only reason they would have any interest, which, ironically, is how he got the job here.
Considering coaches now get a 12 game schedule with 2 cupcakes and games against UK and Vandy every season, there is really no excuse for a program that likes to consider itself a serious football program to not win 6 games a season. This sounds familiar. I remember hearing a lot about how Muschamp had the most wins in any coach's first 3 years.
Then it was Beamer had the most wins in any coach's first 4 years.
That might be more of an indictment of our program than of any singular coach.

I propose people (you) stop acting like having a losing conference record and being 8 games over .500 3 games into year 5 is somehow impressive.Do you not believe the best of our entire 100+ year coaching history should serve the a benchmark?
What do you propose "Piscis?"

Can we fit all of us "Lurkers" in one house? If so, how do we tell each other apart?I take it you're now "me" too? This is rather funny. I must be up to 10 or 15 posters by now.
Fixed it for the board. As a child, my mind doesn't work like that.

Like Brad Scott from FSU?He’s not leaving, but if he did, we need to just do the smart thing and go after a coordinator from one of the top programs. I’d start with Ohio State’s OC and work my way down.
No, like Mark Richt from FSU.Like Brad Scott from FSU?
Ouch! That one still stings to this day. But hey he won a bowl game.Like Brad Scott from FSU?
