The last four football coaches at South Carolina are Holtz.
Spurrier, Muschamp, and Beamer. How do their records
compare overall, in SEC, and against Clemson.
Use only the first five years of their tenure

Here's a breakdown of how Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier,
Will Muschamp, and Shane Beamer performed in their
first five seasons as head football coaches at South
Carolina, focusing on overall record, SEC record,
and results against Clemson

South Carolina Football Coaches: First 5-Year Performance
Record
Coach Years Overall Win % SEC Win % vs Clemson
Lou Holtz 1999–2003 31–38 44.9% 15–25 37.5% 1–4
Steve Spurrier 2005–2009 35–22 61.4% 18–22 45.0% 1–4
Will Muschamp 2016–2020 28–30 48.3% 17–23 42.5% 1–4
Shane Beamer 2021–2025 32–24 57.1% 16–19 45.7% 2–2

Key Takeaways
Best Overall Record: Spurrier had the strongest
overall start (35–22), though Beamer is close behind
in win percentage.

SEC Performance:
Beamer leads in win percentage in conference play.
but Spurrier leads in SEC wins.

Clemson Rivalry: Beamer is the only one with a
non-losing record against Clemson in his first five
years, going 2–2.

Results for Year 5 could adversely affect these numbers. Beamer is off to a rocky start.
Can he turn it around?

Not to let Muschamp off the hook, but as it pertains to Clemson, he did coach here smack in the middle of Clemson's most dominant stretch in their program's history.

I will be curious to see these numbers at the end of this year.

I have a feeling the "most wins in 4 years" is going to work out as well as the "most wins in 3 years" did.

I really wish folks would quit making that comparison. It's meant to be a compliment to the coach, but it only highlights our historic mediocrity.

Does anyone seriously think Beamer is fit to caddy for Spurrier or Holtz', much less be mentioned as a comparable coach? Holtz and Spurrier came here long after their coaching abilities peaked. We are now getting Beamer's best.

Heading into the 2014 season, after Spurrier had already given us three-straight 11-win seasons and an SEC East title, he received a raise upping his compensation package to $4 million per year.

I believe Beamer's package is about $8.15 million.

Botman - What is this Asinine Amphibian trying to say?

"Most wins 3 in years" worked about pretty well for season 4 while you and your doppelganger, Gamecock Stock, were clamouring for Chadwell on a daily basis.

Chadwell currently 1-4 at Liberty. :)

As always, disregard the thoughts of this silly frog.

His track record is terrible and more importantly -- his sole intention is to degrade the team at every turn.

Was 2014 the season the cursed Spurrier banner went up outside the stadium?

Spurrier 2009, 2010 and 2011 was levels above Muschamp, Beamer, Holtz. After that he didn’t give a f*** and the team went to hell by 2014/15.

You mean 2011-2013. Definitely the golden years. All 11 win teams lead by Shaw at qb and solid defenses led by Clowney and other stars. 2010 team did win the SEC East. 2013 team finished #4 in the final AP poll.

Wrong years, but Spurrier’s players that fell into his lap were what made those teams. He didn’t give your expletive after that because those players weren’t there any longer. As big a Spurrier fan as I am, I would postulate that given those same players, Muschamp, Beamer, and Holtz would have had very similar records to Spurrier in those years.

TBT, Sourrier didn’t much give an expletive for a couple of years before that, even with those players.
