I know it's early.. but 5 min into the game, and TTU has 5 and Alabama State has 8. Alabama State is 1-10.

I'm sure TTU is gonna win, but Beard has had some struggles in the past with offense. He seems to be similar to Cal in that he makes defense the priority. IDK if this fanbase would like that with another coach. Personally, I'd like to see us swing in the other direction and opt for a more offensive-minded guy.

EDIT: LOL totally forgot that he's not at TTU. I really can't seem to remember that, as it's not the first time I did this. I keep thinking he's still there.

I think theirs only holds about 16k. So we have what 4K more seats after our renovation and it looks like their new stadium will be 10k for most games with the ability to go to 15k for larger events. I’d say most schools will start doing this as attendance is down overall in many sports, Covid, ticket prices, schedules, TV, and ease of watching all contribute to the declines. People don’t like to attend events as much now, even at concerts people don’t seem to pay attention to the experience and just want their phones out.

Will be interesting to see how this evolves. Their attendance is still horrific even though Beard has been very aggressive in trying to get fans in seats and has pulled every gimmick in the book to do so. I'm sure covid is one reason as well as the level of competition, but not all of it.

Also, talk radio down there is saying the brand of basketball is not much fun to watch.

I guess he has a very small arena coming next year, so he will probably have no problem filling it.

I don't see him making them a perennial power, but could obviously be wrong.

Pretty funny there. The Beard hate on the board is rather interesting. I’m not sure where it comes from.

Beard is going to be one of the old guard. He can recruit, he’s already proven he’s a winner, now he just needs time and the right fit to put it together. As far as offensive minded coaches, that’s not what UK does. Now a mix might be the right order, but I can’t see UK hiring a defensively inept coach.

Beard fits so well at UK. Hungry, defensive minded, can recruit, and all about his program. He would feast here. Whether or not that happens, he’s definitely on everyone’s short list of hires as far as the blue bloods go. “We struck out on the top choice” candidate. I just hope Kansas doesn’t land him and we make a bad hire.

If many on this board were as hard on Calipari as they are Beard, we’d have fired Calipari after the 2013 season. I think we could all agree on that.

It just doesn’t make sense. Beard was an overtime from a title at Texas Tech. That’s simply not going to happen by accident. He also was an eyelash from another final four. It’s not going to happen my accident at Texas Tech.

He’s shown more than most coaches in ncaa history simply by being able to accomplish that there.

Beard is going to be one of the next old guard. It’s clearly visible. And over the next 5 years it won’t even be debatable. I’d start scaling back if I were some of you. It’s gonna be some bad takes.

it’s the knee jerk reaction stuff. i get saying “okay this guy could be worth watching” but the crowd that wants to hire every coach that makes a final four is a bit much.

Beard has been underwhelming outside of one solid 2 year run. He was at texas tech what…5 seasons? and lost 10+ games in all but 1.
