Yes he played in Detroit for 12 years, in a dome. He's admitted saying he doesn't like playing in the cold.
Bears need to get the run game going and keep it going. Keep the ball out of Stafford's hands as long as possible.
This is an..."interesting" reply. Kind of like...duh! So, Stafford has admitted he doesn't like playing in the cold. So what? If you were to send out a survey of all the players in the NFL simply asking, "do you like playing in the cold?" I guarantee the overwhelming answer would be a hard no. But saying that doesn't mean you can't be productive in it. And NFL players just play in whatever conditions are thrown at them.
Jim McMahon said on more than one occasion he hated playing in cold games in Chicago, especially if it was windy too. When it comes to Stafford, Ben Johnson himself said Stafford played well in cold weather when he was in Detroit.
You say Stafford admitted to not liking playing in the cold, as if he won't play well in it. Then you go on to say the Bears need to keep the ball out of his hands. Well, if he doesn't play well in cold weather keeping the ball out of his hands won't be as great an issue.
I will say again, as I have said many times. The cold itself isn't as big a problem as the wind will be. If it was windy and 30 degrees the conditions would be less favorable than single digits and very calm. Because if it was 30 degrees with a 25-30 mph wind, wind chills will be in the single digits anyway. So, I am going to look at the wind speed first.
Don't get me wrong. Single digit cold...is cold. It will have effects on the ball itself. But both teams will have the weather and the ball to deal with.
What I find VERY interesting are the people who are talking about the cold being an advantage for the Bears while some of the same ones say the Bears organization should build a dome. While I like the cold, I don't see it as this huge advantage. I could be wrong, however.
