Ended up needing surgery. Out for the year.
But Ozzy made some miraculous recovery and may be back in a few weeks they are saying. Weird day

Xaiver Woods is not Coby Bryant but he is definitely a strong band aid on the wound

That is not good news. It's the NFL and everyone is hurt by week 4 anyways but man that stings.
The Trapillo recover is interesting. Poles made a interesting comment that he needs padded practices and after training camp those are hard to come by. We will see how this plays out.

I know they are all pushing for the same type of field turf they used for the World Cup

A positive note for everyone, no more Pro Bowl game!
When you have to resort to Sheduer Sanders to fill your roster of a Flag Football game it's time to call it quits. Being named All Pro is all players care about. But since most of these players have being named to the Pro Bowl as bonuses in their contract they will still be named a "Pro Bowl" player and invited to a celebration that I'm sure most won't attend.

They know better then us I guess but the entire Bear Nation has been begging and praying for an Edge upgrade since last season....Free Agency nothing, Draft nothing, Trade nothing, even a late Edge signing out of the scrap heap? Nothing.....Dennis Allen must be very particular on who he has playing Edge or like that Booker is going to blow it up this season

What does this have to do with EDGE upgrade? They got a nickel in return, which is also a need.

IMO and I'm not alone here, Edge has been a more pressing need and if a trade was going to be made I was hoping for someone that the Falcons fanbase aren't too upset to see go. They've done nothing to upgrade a major need....but they know more then me so wait and see

I am not in disagreement that EDGE is a need or however you want to phrase it.

For clarity, you wanted the bears to trade for a DE that is suspended for the first 8 games or are you speaking of someone else?

Minus something absolutely unexpected maybe a rotational vet that gets cut or going to get cut is the best to hope for IMO.

If it's like last year they can hold it together on the D line but the secondary got killed with injuries this preseason.

Ya, I'm going to 100% disagree with you on that one.
I know….I’m a huge Bagent fan and think Chicago would love him as their leader. Love his game.

I know he’ll never get a shot unless Caleb gets hurt.

However, I like the idea as Bagent as the starter and what we could get for Caleb and save bc Caleb’s going to demand a record contract.

Oh well…it’ll never happen.

Why would they love him as their leader? Pretty sure Williams is pretty universally loved in Chicago and those that don't I assume have some reasons that are more about them than Williams.

He shouldn't play unless Caleb gets hurt, he is not as good and it is not close.

The Bears get a "franchise QB" and you want to trade him? That is life in the NFL when you have a franchise QB...you know the thing the Bears have been striving to get for my entire lifetime at least? Caleb doesn't put the ball in harms way very often, he makes throws only a handful of QBs can make, he has proven multiple times he can lead a team back in the 4th quarter, he has a pretty dynamic personality in a great way and what his main downfall is needing to improve on the gimmies.....Ya I'm taking that and not looking at my back up that hasn't done anything in any meaningful game ever in the NFL.

And thank god it will not happen.

For the record, I think Bagent looks to be a very solid back up and certainly is an asset to this team in that regard. I thought we were done with this ridiculous Bagent v Williams discussion and have moved on to discussions on other parts of the roster...ooooof.

Because he’s a blue collar guy who came from nothing and is tough as nails. He plays with his heart on his sleeve. He picked up the offense very quickly. Hes a GREAT teammate. He does youth camps across Chicagoland in the summer. He’s constantly doing interviews. His speech when he got extended last year. He has the IT factor. He’s the underdog. He won two games as a rookie when only a year earlier he was playing D2 ball. The moment is never too big for him. Etc…

⬆️ not comparing any of that to Caleb. Just my personal reasons why Chicago would love him.

Never said much of what you replied with pal.

I think Caleb is the most physically gifted QB to ever play the game and I love him paired up with Ben and seeing where it leads. However, that doesn’t mean he’s a “franchise QB” and he’s definitely not one yet. Tom Brady, Manning, Montona all couldn’t throw the ball or move like Caleb. It’s not all about physical talents.

Caleb has the 4th quarter gene.

Two things can be true at once.
  • We potentially have a HOF Qb in Caleb for the next 10+ years.
  • We also potentially have a QB who is the next Brock Purdy

Also, very unpopular opinion but Caleb experienced a ton of luck in 2025 and it’s not sustainable.
- The throw to Kmet vs the Rams being the biggest one. He ran around and threw the ball up like we all did as kids. It very easily coulda went the other way but since Kmet caught it, he gets a loads of praise.
- Other teams choking all on their own last year which allowed the bears to comeback. Green Bay gave us the game in round 1. Bengals forgot how to tackle when Loveland scored the game winner.
- Caleb never steps up in the pocket but rather retreats backwards with the hopes of running around and finding someone. It’s luck paired up with skill. He’s lucky those don’t end in 15yd sacks. I think defenses are more prepared for this this season and he won’t get away with it

I’m just not sold on him yet.Just my opinion.

They needed to get under cap for '26, I think they were $12M over per overthecap.
But, yes, they needed to do both.

Interesting start to the season. Low scoring out in Seattle and the 49ers kicked the Rams' butts. I don't see the Bears winning more than 10 games. Defense has issues.

Meh, it's week 1, don't buy into all the media overreactions. The 49ers/Rams game was in Australia so I wouldn't put too much stock into that game.

No doubt. I’m guessing the Rams may be rethinking their travel approach.

You can't just throw NFL games away and say Meh. There aren't enough of them to do that. Every game counts regardless of where it's played.

Whenever I hear someone say or write what you said, my next move is to give them a history lesson to illustrate how important an early season game can end up being.. So. here we go.

Let's go back 38 years to the 1988 NFL season, shall we? The Bears had a good team that year. But we aren't going to talk about that right now.

The San Francisco 49ers were playing the NY Giants at the Meadowlands in week 2 on September 11th. The Giants led late in the 4th quarter when Joe Montana connected with Jerry Rice for a 76 yard TD to take the lead with :42 left. Steve Young had started and I think Montana came in to start the second half. Anyway, the 49ers won. No big deal, right? I mean, it was only week 2. Lots of football left to play.

I think the1988 season was the one I remember most in all of the 1980s, as far as watching the whole league goes. I remember after week 11 ended and seeing in the paper where SF was 6-5. Like it was yesterday, I remember thinking and hoping SF wouldn't make the playoffs because I felt they were the only team in the NFC that could beat the Bears. Even though the Bears had beaten them a few weeks earlier.

The 49ers ended up 10-6 and had the tie breaker against the Rams so SF won the division even though the Rams were 10-6 as well and beat SF in week 16. But the Rams did make the playoffs. The Giants also ended up 10-6. But didn't make the playoffs. PHI was 10-6 but had the tie breaker to win the division.

In reality the season came down all the way back to week 2. If the Giants had won, they would have made the playoffs and the 49ers wouldn't have.

So, what happened in the playoffs? That was the year the 49ers came into Chicago for the NFC Championship game and completely undressed the Bears. It was embarrassing. And the game was pretty much over on the SF 3rd possession in the 1st quarter when Montana hit Jerry Rice with a pass. Rice got away from the defender and raced to a 61 yard TD. The Bears had nothing on offense and lost 28-3. The 49ers went on to beat the Bengals in SB XXIII.

Yep, it took a long time to get to the punchline. But it has to be put in context. EVERY game counts. And more often than you might think an early win or loss can determine a team's post season fate. The NFC West may very well end up being a dog fight again this year.

Agree every game counts.

But I wouldn't take much from a week 1 result in terms of how good/bad a team is going to be the rest of the season. That's the point.

What he said.

Can't continue to live like it's 40 years ago, the playoffs have expanded. In short, to your point I would say that Seattle lost week 1 last year and won the Super Bowl.

Regardless of where or when in the season they're played I don't put too much weight on team's performance in the international games.
