Somebody is getting banged against those hotel windows during the very first game....bank it
Didn't that happen at a baseball game I think? Was it in Toronto? They were scanning the hotel windows and scanned to a couple going at it during the game?

“The committee also approved a lease agreement with AT&T to update the cellular infrastructure at Beaver Stadium. The AT&T updates will be completed for the start of the 2027 football season.”

While watching the game, I was wondering if the B1G is going to update the B1G commercial to show the renovations.

Why not give it to THON? Or cancer research?

Oh yeah football is more important.

😔
Folks can do two things at the same time. And you can bet your *** the football program is important. If that program flounders Penn State Athletics is finished and state college will be in serious trouble.

Just received an email from Penn State. There are lots of seats still available for the White Out being sold on Ticketmaster by Penn State.

Just checked out the available seats. It’s mind-boggling that people are paying $500+ per seat up in the tippy top of the west upper deck. Little by little the unsold inventory is vanishing and it’ll be only pink resales. Even the north upper deck tippy top seats are $350+.

Not a good sign. If we lose to NW there will be plenty of tickets.

I decided to go up there and watch the Buffalo Game. Looked like a lot of empty seats up there and just wanted to get a feel for it.

Seats are great as far as I’m concerned as long as you’re not sitting too close to the deck railings. They screw up the view. But the higher you go, the less that is any issue.

I expected the seats to be steeper with all the complaining, but I have been in arenas, and even some stadiums, where the seats seemed steeper. The only recommendation I would make is to paint the tips of the steps black, or some other color so 73 year old geezers like me with bad eyes don’t miss a step when they’re walking back down and fall. The plain white colors of the steps all blend into each other on the way back down. 🙂

But overall, I think the seats are great!

Although they will eventually be opening the blue, tarped-off sections, that will coincide with them installing seatbacks which will reduce capacity. Trying to imagine where those seatbacks will go and how many will be installed to bring capacity down.

The "non-club non-suite" chairbacks will be essentially on the "near the goal line" wings of the lower bowl - and a thin strand near the back of the "middle" - if you can picture that. That was the plan anyway.
Those are the locations that are going up by the most crazy $$ amount (like 2-3 times what they were/are this year?) Some folks with those seats locations currently would have the exact cost numbers, I am sure. So those - the "non-premium" chairbacks - will be interesting to watch develop.

It will be most interesting if the subscriptions to the Club Seats (which should have been all subscribed by now, for the 2027 season) continue to slog along. What will they do - aside from have a **** ton of empty seats in prime location (between the 20's). Will they start dropping prices? (That would, I suspect, not make the folks who have already subscribed at full price not too happy).
Or will there be a late surge of folks buying up those available clubs? IDK.
My expectation from the start was that they would be able to sell all of those - for the first go round - and then have trouble once they got to version 2.0 (people being asked to re-subscribe for a second term, when the "shiny and new" starts to wane).
Thus far, sales of those "premium clubs" are lagging well behind - from what I hear, roughly a third remain unsubscribed for 2027 - and if this year's on field performance continues to flounder, that sales job gets tougher.

Capacity for next year: A couple thousands seats will be added by having the "middle" of the West stands available (what you called the tarped), but an equal or slightly larger number of seats will be lost by replacing all the lower bleachers w chairbacks/club.
Overall, will be at best break-even (probably small decline in capacity).
Of course some folks apparently believe current (2026) seating capacity is around 110,000. It is not, which is easy enough to simply "count". But, whatever.

One of the potential fallbacks is to cram some more open bleacher seats into the corners (some will remember the option of fully closing in the corners with "real" seating was rejected)
That would really FUBAR up ingress/egress/flow, but is a cheap fix to potentially try to make up a portion of lost revenue from unsold/discounted full price premium - but likely wouldn't move the needle a lot.

Those decisions would likely be made primarily by the "consultants" (for lack of a better term)

Time will tell.
