Although they will eventually be opening the blue, tarped-off sections, that will coincide with them installing seatbacks which will actually reduce capacity. Trying to imagine where those setbacks will go and how many will be installed to bring capacity down.
The "non-club non-suite" chairbacks will be essentially on the "near the goal line" wings of the lower bowl - and a thin strand near the back of the "middle" - if you can picture that. That was the plan anyway.
Those are the locations that are going up by the most crazy $$ amount (like 2-3 times what they were/are this year?) Some folks with those seats locations currently would have the exact cost numbers, I am sure. So those - the "non-premium" chairbacks - will be interesting to watch develop.
It will be most interesting if the subscriptions to the Club Seats (which should have been all subscribed by now, for the 2027 season) continue to slog along. What will they do - aside from have a **** ton of empty seats in prime location (between the 20's). Will they start dropping prices? (That would, I suspect, not make the folks who have already subscribed at full price not too happy).
Or will there be a late surge of folks buying up those available clubs? IDK.
My expectation from the start was that they would be able to sell all of those - for the first go round - and then have trouble once they got to version 2.0 (people being asked to re-subscribe for a second term, when the "shiny and new" starts to wane).
Thus far, sales of those "premium clubs" are lagging well behind - from what I hear, roughly a third remain unsubscribed for 2027 - and if this year's on field performance continues to flounder, that sales job gets tougher.
Capacity for next year: A couple thousands seats will be added by having the "middle" of the West stands available (what you called the tarped), but an equal or slightly larger number of seats will be lost by replacing all the lower bleachers w chairbacks/club.
Overall, will be at best break-even (probably small decline in capacity).
Of course some folks apparently believe current (2026) seating capacity is around 110,000. It is not, which is easy enough to simply "count". But, whatever.
One of the potential fallbacks is to cram some more open bleacher seats into the corners (some will remember the option of fully closing in the corners with "real" seating was rejected)
That would really FUBAR up ingress/egress/flow, but is a cheap fix to potentially try to make up a portion of lost revenue from unsold/discounted full price premium - but likely wouldn't move the needle a lot.
Those decisions would likely be made primarily by the "consultants" (for lack of a better term)
Time will tell.
