They chewed up my cypress tree that I planted this past fall, and I had two feet of chicken wire wrapped around the base. Hopefully I'll have pictures in the morning. The next morning it's rebuilt. I've stayed up till midnight with a spotlight and rifle. It's time for a trap. I've killed 4 beavers and 2 muskrats over the past two years with a gun. I think this latest beaver is too smart to be shot.

You are wasting your time tearing out the dam. Find the hut. Pour on a gallon or so of diesel fuel and set it a fire. Step back with your trusty Remington and wait for them to come out!!! You can also use some ammonium nitrate and diesel to speed up the process.
you need to look for a choke point where they are traveling a small stream or ditch. The trap must be under water in this small area. Using this method we have trapped five this year and have have no activity for several months now. If all else fails contact the Dept of Fish and Wildlife and they will help you solve you problem.
few years ago that was infested with beavers. After spending large amounts of time and money we hired some maniacs out of Flora that absolutely wiped their *** out by trapping them. We pay them $125 per month to keep them out now and have had no issues. By the time you figure out the value of your time this is a good deal. PM me if you want their names, they git er done.
I am going to the Madison County Co-op today and get additional traps for the slides. I did consider hiring someone to trap the beavers like Johnny Little or Ben Walker, but I'm having to much fun chasing this little m'fer. I feel like Bill Murrah on Caddy Shack or Ahab from Mobie Dick. I'm not going to quit til kill his little ***.
We had major issues with beavers on our place. We spent hundreds on Dinomite and they would re-build by morning. Tried the spot light and they would be gone as soon as you flipped the switch on. What we finally found to work was......... We got a car battery and a drop light, went to Autozone and bought a 12v light bulb. We hung this light over the dam and tore out the dam. The beavers would come and begin re-building and we would blast there a$$ with a 22 mag. The light did not seem to bother them as long as it was on all the time. Something else we noticed was when we left a dead beaver hung up in the dam they would not re-build it until the dead one was gone. We would shoot a few and then stake one to the dam. It would sit idle for weeks.

He was always out to get the Beaver, but always failed. Once you get over, you can be Trapper John DMD (which I thought was clever).
The developer of the Ridgefield neighborhood in Gluckstadt which is about a mile west of your office had a problem with beavers stopping up the ditch near the front of the neighborhood. Destroying the dam did no good. They tried that several times. He finally called a guy who traps them. He trapped them and removed them and he has had no problems since. That was probably 3 years ago.
These are the biggest reason people trap beavers, along with the fur. The liquid inside these sacs are used in making perfume and, by some, are considered an aphrodisiac...
We've done this to make the little 17 er's pack up and move....we broke the dam and dug out limbs down to the bottom or as close as we could get and put in a couple of joints of the sewer drain pipe with the small holes. You will need about 10' or so on either side of the dam. This makes the water level go down and the beavers go nuts trying to find the leak. They want to maintain a certain water level and this makes their engineering department crazy. If the water depth is too great, you can do it in stages as the water goes down. Bigger dams may take multiple sets of pipes. You don't have to worry about broken fingers or severed hands fooling with the traps or handling that god-awful musk cover scent for the traps. They all have engineering degrees from OM so they never figure it out.......
