A few thoughts..

I hate we lost. We had our chances and in true MSU fashion blew it. Dropped passes, missed pick 6, strange play calling all managed to cancel out a second half shutout, a fumbled punt gift, and the most beautiful onside kick I think I've ever seen. We just can't seem to make the plays when they count and until we do we'll always be "just MSU" to everyone else.

We need to roll out our QBs more. They both (ESPECIALLY Relf) seem to be like a deer in headlights in the pocket when any pressure is applied. It's almost like Relf freezes when someone blitzes right in front of him- he just watches them as they launch themselves into his chest. I can't remembereither of themthrowing anything away.

Iam beginning to think Malzon is a bit over rated.Playcalling was average at best and I refuse to believe that in a 3 point game he was holding anything back. Even thetrick play was read by our D-instead of playing the ball White should have just blown Newton up the second he caught the ball.

That said- the game was lost back in December when Newton's dad committed Newton to AU and not MSU. No Newton and AU loses by 10. He never really dazzled, but he kept so many drives alive with his legs picking up first downs.AU isn't going to win the west.

Enjoy the cowbells this year- they won't be around next year. Not only will they be illegal, the SEC will finally fine the hell out of MSU for the few thatmanage to get inside the stadium. Also, I beginning to think that they are a crutch- pretty big game Thursday and the stadium's been much lowder in years past when they weren't allowed.

Someone in the band who reads this needs to tell the idiots in the small bandgroup they let wander in the second half to shut the <17> up whenMSU is on offense. And to those that insist on ringing their bell while MSU is on offence you should take the same advice.

As for the SEC west

As much as I hate to admit it- I think Bama is going to have the SEC West wrapped up for a while, and I wouldn't be suprised ifthey end up taking home a few crystaltrophiestoo. Living in Alabama is going to become difficult. I knowLes Mileskeeps "winning" butas long as he's atLSU I just can't see them "winning" enough to challengeBama. Auburn will recruit under Chizik buttheir staff doesn't stike me as a "game day" staff. Petrino will quickly learn that he's not going to consistently get the talent to compete, and the reality is MSU and UM will -at best- be spoilers. The East is going to be interesting this year, the past few years has been UF's to lose, but I think UGA, USC, UT all have a chanceifthey geta few lucky bounces.

Lastly, I woke up early this morning at the hotel and decided I was going to watch Gameday and not cartoons this morning since the 2 year old daughter was with the inlaws. Instead I stumble upon what I suppose was MSNBC replaying in real time their 9-11-2001 coverage. I watched it for 3 hours straight and only stopped because I have to check out. 9 years later and I still remember that morning like it was yesterday. I spent that morning with 15 coworkers huddled around a 17" TV with rabbit ears watching things unfold. All major online news sites were inaccessable. We were all sent home at noon. I was just as pissed off this morning as I was that day. In the immortal words of one MSU fan- "go to hell Bin Laden".
