The closer it's getting to this bowl game tonight, the less talk of Napier... I think it's sill him....

It's just too soon on Judge. The timing is not right. Let's say Judge gets hired at let's say somewhere like South Alabama and wins 9 games first year, 10 games the second year, then he would be my overwhelming choice.

What bothers me about Judge is that we've already tried hiring an NFL position coach (if that's what it's called) and we know how well that worked out. And we were stuck with him for 5 years. Going from such a job to head coach in the SEC is quite a jump.

My guess is the next HC at Mississippi State will be Billy 17n Napier.

Should know something soon with his bowl game finally being played tonight.

it's too much of Gamble but Jackie, Matt, Gene, and Rosebowl are pushing hard for him. i guess because he as an msu guy. that's not what people really meant by they wanted a guy that understood MSU. we want a guy like mullen to come in and understand that we have had some success and understand we are blue collar and not like Moorhead that constantly put us and the fans down. he did get the fan base behind him ever. we don't necessarily need an alumni to do that. i don't want us to hire an alumni without the experience just to hire an alumni.

I'm coming around on the Judge hire actually, if Napier is going to say no I'm down for the gamble. We are already taking a big risk letting Moorhead go two years in. If you're walking on ice you might as well dance.

So because Croom was a failure, no NFL position coach is qualified to be our head coach?

Not necessarily - he may be the greatest thing on earth - but we don't know how well he can manage a program. It's a risk. However, Cohen knows a lot more about such things than I do (and more than anybody else on the board).

Of course it’s a risk, but to dismiss it because we tried the NFL position coach before seems pretty short sighted. There are a lot of reasons why Judge is different than the Croom hire.

By this logic hiring a P5 OC is a bad idea because of Moorhead.

Croom wasn’t a coordinator immediately before he took the job but he’d been one before.
