1. Yes, I know how to reply. I can quote too. I just don't feel it's necessary to hit the reply button when my thought actually falls under the topic subject. I didn't realize how important it was to have a main idea for a reply; I just thought that was something pretty much understood. I'll quote you if I'm directly responding to your post so you know I'm speaking to and discern that. Otherwise, that's what the freaking quick reply button is there for. Don't tell me how to reply- learn how to READ.<div>

You looked at what I put in the subject line and it suddenly made sense?<div>
</div><div>I get it if you're directly replying to someone else. But what's hard about deciphering the post I just wrote? What if I didn't put "why" in the subject line? Would it have put you off .0003 seconds?</div><div>
</div><div>At least you're not an *** about it. Thanks.</div><div>

What'd you make on the English section of your ACT?
Maybe I do need to put a main idea to every post. Geez.<div>
</div><div>The grades part was a joke.... I thought that was one of your big jokes here: what you made on the English section? Right? Obviously grades have nothing to do with how capable you are to post. A freaking monkey could bang on keys. You're not going to make me feel stupid for using your own joke. I mean, look how testy you are when I don't hit the reply button.... my God, I thought I'd lighten the blow, apparently not everyone's cool enough to use sixpack jokes. Feels like fourth grade or something. What do you guys do all day, think of other alternate words for cuss words and decide who's cool enough to use them?

but normally when I see people that weren't getting the reply formality, a lot of times I'd see people send em that reply picture tutorial and is usually cool about it. I can see why people get annoyed though if the person continues to do it over and over. Then it seems as if it's getting to the point of intentionally annoying someone.<div>
</div><div>think about it this way... society has a lot of social norms that may not be illegal, but because it goes against what everyone else normally confirms to, it usually comes off as if the person is going against what everyone else has established as common courtesy just to be different and/or annoying. Take brushing your teeth... of course it's not illegal not to do so... but I doubt you'll have too many people that will want to talk to you directly if you completely disregard that as normal ritual for your day.</div><div>
</div><div>a public forum...isn't all too different. I'll admit that this board in particular is a bit more unforgiving on new comers and there are lots that feel that acting like a tough *** on the internet is imperative, but that's not entirely the case.... It just messes up with the flow of things on the board, and it can confuse a lot of people as to who you're talking to. You may reply to someone to whom you weren't directing a statement to and they'll get confused because it's understood how people tend to reply.</div><div>
</div><div>You say you don't see the problem with having everyone read what you say since it shouldn't be too hard to interpret, but there really is something wrong with that... You're expecting everyone in the board to forego what they've gotten used to just to appease you. No offense... but that really makes you look like a douche.</div>

I can click on that post and it, as well as any replies to that post will be displayed. If you don't click the reply button, it will not be included in the replies associated with that post. It also cuts down on any confusion that may come from a reply that could be an answer to two or more posts in the same thread.

I see what you're saying (the gist anyway, I'm not reading all of that, but I skim fast). I'm just saying... if it's pertinent, I SWEAR I'll use the reply button.<div>
</div><div>Your topic to your post or whatever really added nothing to it. I still had to read what you said. To me, it's way faster and easier to read it all together. If you don't want to open the topic, just run your cursor over their post and you still read it. Reading their main idea doesn't do that much.</div><div>
</div><div>I see if you're replying to someone else or making a different point. Not trying to be a douche, it really is just easier. If it's THAT big of a deal, I'll do it- but don't call someone retarded or whatever because they don't check sixpackspeak and know all there is to know. My God, it's too much and you look like a dork. It's nothing to get worked up over.

One of the few that actually is of any form of help.<div>
</div><div>As I said, I personally go over it with my cursor- to me, the main idea usually doesn't say enough either way. BUT, I get why THAT is important to people that don't run their cursor over it.</div><div>
</div><div>And that's all that had to be said and we didn't have to talk about ACT's and uniforms and skulls.</div><div>
</div><div>Normally when people aren't asses about things (like I was in return), things get done faster.</div><div>
</div><div>Thanks to the TWO guys that didn't have to be internet cool guy and brag to their friends at work tomorrow about it. Hope the other ones have fun, and I didn't hurt your feelings about your skull. It's intense, man.

Since you made pretty high on the ACT... I'm willing to bet that your reading comprehension is better than most... It might do you a little better to actually read instead of skim. I did not call you a douche... I said you come off as a douche when you do something that goes against the norm intentionally. I'm trying to help you out because I don't really think this is a hard thing to understand. So due to your attention span... I'll keep this a bit shorter...<div>
</div><div>It's not pertinent as much as it is common courtesy. If you're going to post here there are rules and norms just like any public environment that people expect you to understand. In most cases, if there's something you don't get there will be people to explain them to you... Don't go out of your way to go against something established and get upset when people retaliate. That just doesn't make sense to me and makes you seem immature. Again, I'm not calling you immature... but you're not doing too much todissuadepeople from perceiving you as such.</div>

so far my only solution (if I find myself really needing to know this) is to open the thread in a separate tab. then scan back and forth to see who is replying to who.

it would be nice to see which post each reply was directed towards once inside the thread.

with the culture established, people are ******** on this board (and I'd be willing to bet a lot of people here aren't NEAR as douchy in real life as they are on here... I know several of the posters I know personally may act like ******** on here, but do not in real life...). It's buried into the culture of what makes this board fun to read, and also was how and why this board was established in the first place. I read this board for almost 4 years before I began posting, so I was pretty in tune with the culture (I know no one gives two ***** about that comment, I'm just making a point). Despite all that, I have been blasted MANY times for stupid stuff I say or do. It's part of the culture here. Don't take it personally because I'd be willing to bet most people don't really MEAN it personally (even though they say they do). Like I said, it goes back to why this board is fun to read. Roll with the punches, take your medicine when you have to, and have fun. Anyone who posting here for a while will probably second me on that.<div>

I wasn't mad or upset or whatever else- it's the internet. The internet doesn't get me worked up. I'm sitting here studying and watching football. I'm cool. I just want to make a post without all of the "mature" people having an attack if I don't do the proper reply.<div>

Just asking for clarification. As far as I know there isn't anyway to tell once you've clicked on the thread. Hell, I didn't even know if you click on a certain post it only shows you the replies to that post until I read it earlier on here.

The quote function is the easiest way to ensure your post is followed to me. I dont know why people don't use it more.

I made the mistake to jump in the board after reading for like about a week.. I really liked the atmosphere and thought I wouldn't do much to get blasted, but then the day came. I didn't catch one of the inside jokes and it waspandemonium. My posting went on hiatus for about a year before I came back.

a message board, a bar, a coffee shop, etc. If you don't like the culture you are the problem, not everyone else. You don't have to conform to every little thing, god knows I don't, but you could at least try to understand and follow the general rules. Throwing your little tantrum in list format makes you look as douchey as the prick who has been on about how much he hates the military (and then enjoys being sarcastic about it once he's called out).

What baffles me, is that you aren't really new posters. Anyway, I always understood your avatar and your posts never bothered me. I just thought I would chime in, because that's my thing.

at the title heading at each post, right beside the title, there is a parenthesis that has a time step and who the post is directed to. it looks something like...<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 11px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><font class="SubjectDisplay" style="color: black; font-size: 13px; font-weight: bold; font-family: Arial; ">re: Auburn will beat Mississippi State by AT LEAST 10 points</font><font class="PostInfo" style="color: black; font-size: 10px; text-decoration: none; "> (Posted on 9/5/11 at 10:35 a.m. toCoonassBulldog)</font></span></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" size="1">

Everybody got called a retard, and people actually stopped when they realized I did make a 34 on that section (I can only imagine how intimidating that is- worse than that skull, no doubt in my mind).<div>
</div><div>No, everybody's not stupid; if you don't explain to them that you're lazy and want to read their main idea before rolling your cursor over to get an even longer main idea from it before they decide to read YOUR post. You should not ***** about that and be glad they are reading the gold you are throwing their way.</div><div>
</div><div>They can't just open up the thread, because most of them are sitting at work looking protective but don't want to come across someone's signature giving a blow job or something as the boxx walks by. I got it.</div>
