Ben Bracewell has pitched awfully well this year. Anyone have an idea why

we haven't pitched him a little bit more? He was a starter at one time in his career and then was pegged as the closer before Holder took over. I'd like to see Cohen use him more.

After seeing Evan Mitchell lay another turd this weekend, I would almost like to see Bracewell get a midweek start against USM to see if he could work into the rotation. He has looked better than several of our starters in the limited amount of innings he's pitched.

I was curious if they were still being cautious about his arm because

when he does pitch it's one or two innings at the most. He's got good stuff so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I've wondered that myself. It's either fear of injury or he's disliked by Butch or Cohen...because there is no good explanation of why he doesn't pitch more and for longer amounts of time, in my opinion.

I thought Mitchell's stuff looked pretty good this weekend. His pitches seemed to have good break and movement anyway. He obviously can't throw two balls for strikes and then hit a batter though.

Oh I agree, Evan has the stuff to be a dominant pitcher for us, but he can't quit walking people. If he would just take a little off his pitches and quit trying to prove how hard he can throw it, he could be great. He throws gas, and his off speed stuff is nasty. Notice when Evan is pitching that he will start to bounce his curveball and throw his fastball really high and away from where Slauter is set up...this is exactly what happens to those two pitches when you're trying to overthrow them. But then once he gets behind in the count, sometimes he lets up a little and strikes everybody out.

I wish I could say "Evan, we all know you can throw 96 mph....but you cannot control it when you throw it that hard. So instead why don't you try to throw it 90-91 (which is still gas), and locate it...then you will be unstoppable." He just can't do it though.

Because of our depth at starting pitching

I know this weekend wasn't the best example of that, but we know that two of our starters are Lindgren and Graveman. Even if Evan Mitchell and Brandon Woodruff don't get straightened out, we still have Will Cox.

It's also because of his injury history- we're trying to save him for SEC play as much as possible.

The better question is why they don't play Daryl Norris. If I was him and got drafted mid rounds this year (as is expected), I'm going to go. Forget coming back and playing half the time. There's got to be more to the story than the fans see. Cohen spent alot of time recruiting this guy, he was the gem on that class for the most part, he led the team in hitting before his injury last year, yet it seems like we play him half the time, many times Frost is the guy who takes his spot. WTF?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to make that observation. It does require, however, a seasoned football mind to realize that Tyler Russell is a better fit for 2013 MSU football than Dak Prescott. Well, it really shouldn't, that should be easy to see too. For MOST of us.

Ho ha he yeah you're testing me, huh? Go to bed, son. And stop your attempts to pal up with me next time around so I won't have to hurt your feelings. I work alone. Engie is your butt buddy, not me.
