Gotta love it when being an All-American is “just didn’t work out.” Slipped on a banana peel and fell onto the podium.

This is probably my biggest gripe on here and why I rail so hard with many fan(atic)s on here. Being an AA at the DI level is incredibly hard. Wrestling on Saturday night is beyond improbable and winning it all is nearly impossible.

When you grade a coach ONLY on how many champs they have, while completely ignoring how many AA’s and Finalists they do produce, it is beyond insulting to everyone that busts their *** in ways nearly no one on the board can truly comprehend.

Meanwhile, these same people ignore the obvious, when people in the know have flat out said Iowa is limited financially and even with compliance compared to PSU and OkState. Essentially both teams are starting with a runner on 2nd base EVERY inning and if Iowa is lucky enough to get to extra inning they STILL don’t get to start with a guy on 2nd.

But, you guys are all correct. It is all the Brands fault and Iowa should just be great because it is Iowa, even though Gable left almost 30 years ago and Zalesky fell right off the rails as soon as all of Gable’s leftovers graduated.

There are issues way beyond the coaches that are holding the program back and if you don’t see that, you are blind…

Visited okyst when Raney’s did. When Ross committed, he knew they were off the table. We were probably his favorite of the rest of his offers. May have visited tOSU, not sure. If we missed on him, we would be screwed, since Merrill apparently was high on Iowa state.

Not that it matters in the slightest to me, since the literal intent of my post in many case is to irritate, but my post to like ratio is pretty damn solid.

Also, Bob said that coming out of Covid having NO IDEA what NIL would become and what limitations compliance would put on the program. If you have read AFTER that, you would see even Bob came on after and said how wrong that part was.

Simple, undeniable fact. Bob=millionaire. Richison and Lubert could LOSE the entire amount of Bob’s net worth and STILL be super rich.

Injuries effect 285s more than any other weight. Parris spent a year wrestling injured and people like Kerk dominated him. Parris gets healthy and handles Kerk. A healthy Kerk handles Hendrickson, an injured Kerk loses badly. Keuter handled Feldman multiple times last year and it wasn't particularly close this year.

I think the Brands are an issue and the room at the heavier weights isn't good but what's more likely, Keuter forgot how to wrestle or he's injured?

If you want to go the conservative compliance route, please relate that to some coaching timeline. Was that new attitude what drove Gable into retirement and led to Zalesky's issues?

Askren has a point. Kueter's been here for 3 seasons and has regressed. He's slower than ever this season and wrestles with no mat IQ. No offense. Takes 1 half assed shot in the 3rd period when he's down by 3 or more. I liked true freshman version of Kueter better than the present.

This is coming from someone who was very high on Ben when he first got here.

So we've circled all the way back to "Iowa can't compete with PSU and Okst b/c we don't have the money they do... AND they're cheating"

Recruits - former, current, and future have said time and time again they aren't going to PSU b/c of money. Hell blue chippers are sitting on the bench and risking losing years of eligibility to be in that room. We're already seeing the same thing start in Okst.

In addition, we know Iowa has stepped up and been a major player financially for recruits and transfers. We have the best new facility in the business.

I don't understand why it's so hard to just admit the staff has played the major role in where the program is now.

The other possibility is a motivation problem. The body language screams DGAF(Michigan dual).
