QBs don't go to MSU to be the 3rd string. Don't get me wrong, we need the depth badly, but this kid was looking for quick PT. He needs an injury and to win heads up against Dak to do that here.
Good news is that after the 2014 class, where we lead for Elijah Staley at this point and I wouldn't be surprised to see us take Woodall as an athlete, there are several pretty good dual threat QBs in MS in the 2015 and 2016 classes...
What I was speaking more to is that we do not have a history of producing top QBs. We don't have a history of All SEC or NFL draft quality QBs. Relf did an awesome job developing into a solid running QB and leader. I think Dan has been making the moves to making us more attractive to those big QB prospects by developing OL depth and getting a WR class like our last one. I think the best thing that could happen for us to get those kind of guys is for the two guys we have now to keep improving like they have and keeping winning while putting up some good numbers.
This is no big deal. He wanted to be assured of playing and we were not going to do that. Plus my sources on the staff have said he would be 3rd team and we have a couple of prospects we think we will sign who are better. I wish him well but he wasn't going to beat out Tyler or Dak.
The Big East turned into the American Athletic Conference, but they're still a BCS member in the 2013 season (meaning their champion will go the Orange Bowl, likely).
