Bengals will lose and be out of the playoffs. Perfect time to fire that unqualified kid they got as coach and hire Urban for a bargain basement price that even the cheapskate Brown family can muster in between Christmas presents and groceries.

Urban is a fantastic coach. Was off balance and never got a handle on hiring a good staff and I think he learned a whole lot of what not to do, plus the Bengals have plenty of weapons and a defense he can work with as long as he solidifies the O-line so Joe isn't a punching bag next year.

Make this bold move and get the best coach in Cincinnati since Paul. Tell Urban he can have all the bar hoes he wants as his personal life is his business, but we need a FOOTBALL coach.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

Got fired at the wrong time. He could have named his college jobs a couple of months back.

Not a good hire. I dont like these college coaches in the NFL, especially if they come from big programs that have spent their last 5 to 10 years beating teams with 1/4th the talent.

I'd give Todd Bowles a look. I liked him for the Jets, we just had (have) such a ****** level of talent, that no one can win with them as of late. Great defensive coach, he CAN be a head coach. And the Bengals are MUCH further along than the Jets were 3-4 years ago. He could win with that talent IMO.

My plan is brilliant. This weekend, or next, Cincinnati will flub making the playoffs and our cub scout snotty little coach can finally mercifully be canned.

Normally we'd have no shot at Urban, but this ONE time we do. Got to jump on this. He feels at home in Ohio. All the stars are aligned for this one special moment and only the completely totally absolutely incompetent Brown family led by Mike the Moron could screw this up.

For those of you that are completely unfamiliar with football, Urban is probably the 2nd or 3rd best football coach in the country behind only Saban and Belichick... so please just hum if you don't know the words as I'm moving fast here. Putting things together on the fly. Making moves. Spit balling in a brain storming wave of pure unvarnished brilliance.

For one fleeting moment the Bengals could do something right. This almost never happens. Let's all hold our breath and wait for the inevitable flub of doing exactly the worst thing at the worst time which is Bengals history.

Taylor had the same number of wins his first season. Although I don't like his play calling, I like what he's built and the future is bright. Urban has only proven to be a ****** husband in his NFL tenure.

Jacksonville had nothing for Urban to work with. He threw a staff together full of people he didn't know, he followed that up with the idiotic Tebow thing... just a cascade of idiocies that got in his way of what he does best... winning football games.

Cincinnati will have none of those problems. We have talent on both sides of the ball. Plenty for Urban to work with. He'll make the right hires this time and Mike Brown will stay out of his way.

This will work, folks. We could be at the dawn of a new Bengals era. So much winning you'll be begging them to stop.

Those two runs with Mixon while Burrow was red hot... that was the end for me. Too much to take. Our playoff drought was right there in our hands and that idiot runs the ball twice. I knew with a 100% certainty that we lost the game before the ball was snapped on 3rd down after that.

Anyone that thinks Cincinnati is going to make the playoffs has not been watching the Bengals for the last 40 years like I have. There is exactly no chance on earth we do anything other than miss the playoffs. Then, immediately after losing and being eliminated from the playoffs, we'll win the next game by 35 and the 2 players that played the best in that game will be traded or become a free agent and leave.

Not only 2 games, all his players hate him, he benched his #1 offensive weapon 2 straight weeks and kicked a kicker in the leg he previously injured. I mean Jesus Christ.
Yeah they quit on him no doubt. Jax has been outscored 108-31 the past 4 games. I'm picking them to win this week.

Nah. This ain’t college.

Dude’s a narcissist. Grown men who make more than 5x what he does won’t put up with the “me the boss” routine.

At the risk of getting hooked and cooked, I'm starting to think this guy is serious.

I assumed it was just a fishing expedition. I didn't think it was real.

Now, I'm not so sure.

Cincinnati will lose today and effectively be out of the playoffs. We need to give Urban enough time to properly vet and select his staff as that was a major problem at Jacksonville. He called them all losers as a matter of fact.

Get everything ready to make the boldest move in Bengals history to FINALLY get a great football coach back in Cincinnati at a bargain basement price ready to prove himself as one of the finest basketball coaches to ever live because Urban is an AWESOME football coach, folks.

Urb is an Ohio guy, going to the Jags to be a huge failure so he could coach the Bengals was the plan all along. Probably hatched this scheme with Mike Brown over breakfast at Frisch's one morning.

The Ravens should hire Urban Meyer. I understand he can count to 2, and understands with the best kicker in the league he should go for a tie in regulation and win in OT. Harbaugh has blown that simple decision twice so far this month.

So far my plan is working diabolically well. I jinxed the Bengals into winning today plus Urban gets more time to work on who he's going to bring in on his staff. Win-win, baby.

Hoping Cleo starts a contest and countdown to Urban. Winner to get a free lap dance. That would be fun!

Didn't Barry Switzer win a SB as well with the Cowboys, albeit with a stacked lineup and the Buffalo Bills as their designated victim?

OTOH, I could name a long list of successful college coaches that could not cut the mustard in the NFL, several who did not last a season (Bobby Petrino??)

Steve Spurrier
Lou Holthzzzzzz
Nick Saban
Rich Brooks
Chip Kelly

that is just off the top of my head

Uh NO. The Bengals are on the verge of being a playoff team. They may be one this year. Zac Taylor has done a great job. We don’t need to blow it up and hire that 60 year old skirt chaser. Cincinnati, like it or not, is a blue collar, working man & woman town. We aren’t flashy but if you wanna fight us, you will know you have been in one after. Taylor will succeed where Marvin Lewis failed. This is a good, young, hungry team.

Cleveland loses in Cleveland fashion to avoid a 3-way tie atop the division. AFCN is a meat grinder this year.

Ya I thought about Switzer but if I recall he rolled in and grabbed a chip then everything went south in a few years when it was “his” team

Looking like Matt Rhule to add to that list, though he had NFL experience as an assistant.

Barry Switzer basically inherited a dynasty. Pete Carrol was an NFLer who went to college then back to the league.

So that short list of success could really just be Jimmy Johnson.

“Going to Jacksonville, just like when I went to Dallas, you knew you were gonna lose, you’re gonna have adversity,” Johnson said. “The difference is, in Dallas, I had my entire coaching staff from college. I had my administrative assistant, I had my P.R. director, I had my trainer. We were all on the same page when we had adversity. He didn’t have that in Jacksonsville. There was a lot of backstabbing, one thing or the other, because he didn’t have his people.

Jimmy Johnson: There was “a lot of backstabbing” of Urban Meyer in Jacksonville

Confirms exactly what I suspected. Urban is one of the all time great football coaches. He can turn the Bengals into a Super Bowl Champion if they have the guts to hire him after they go 2-3 and miss the playoffs in these last 3 games against Baltimore, KC, and Cleveland.

Get the man HIS STAFF and he is going to crush it with all that talent the Bengals have in a kid's hands right now.

The Bengals are always looking for deals like the value isle in Walmart. They specialize in flawed items at bargain basement prices.

There will NEVER be a coach of this caliber for this cheap right now and especially one that so desperately needs to redeem himself. We're not talking about taking a flyer here, we're talking about one of the greatest football coaches to ever live just sitting right there with a big red discounted tag on him in the scratch and dent section.

This is your time, Cincinnati. This is your moment. Will you take it or settle for what you've always settled for?
