He's just reporting what Coman told him during an "on the record" interview. I think he probably is committed, but just wants to do it publicly this week with his family around him.
I bet you Steve, PJ, Logan, Wardlaw, and John Farley all felt the same about thinking Beni was a done deal. The difference in them is one 17er jumped the gun and stole some of his thunder. He probably wanted to do it around his whole family. This is very similar to the type things that we rail on Yancy for. Lets keep it consistent and just say screw scoutRiverCityDawg said:
I would think it would be Kivon he would not be too thrilled with rather than Steve. Beniquez should have told Kivon to keep a lid on it until he was ready to make it public. Now that being said Steve probably should have gotten word from the direct source rather than relying on the cousin.
Unfortunately some of these kids entrust him with information that they don't want spread. Denico wanted to announce hiscommitmenthimself and Rosebowl pulled the rug from under him to give him and Scout more attention. He gets ZERO exclusive information, it just seems like it because he's moreconcernedwith making short term business decisions than being responsible. He totallydisregardsconfidentiality. I'm sure he's done the same with B Brown.
I don't see the problem with quoting a interviewee if that is what he truly said. Now if Steve had said "BB is committed" or added him to the commitment list then that is different and that is jumping the gun, but he only said Coman reported that BB committed and then quoted him as saying such in his interview. If he fabricated that quote out of thin air then i have a big problem with that obviously. I can respect the opinion that he could have waited to talk to BB, but I just don't have a problem with him quoting Coman on the record.<div>Coach34 said:

Paul may not break every new story out there, but he for darn sure tells the truth to the story.
If I want info- especially info that I am going to pay for- I want accuracte info over up to the minute info.
And I guarantee you that Paul has better contacts with the MSU coaches because there is a level of trust there. With Rosebowl, there is no way in Hades that I would trust him with anything, and I bet the coaches feel the same way.
There is a reason why 247 is growing and Genespage is slowly dying.

I would have told him straight up- we're not talking to you because you are hurting us in recruiting.
