But yea, it's basically that, blues trail, and then the Gulfcoast, which gets Louisiana people and I guess possibly some arkansas people but probably roughly zero people from Tennessee or Alabama unless they have some family connection there.
I'll assume you meant "bath houses" ? I never cared much for them, kind of creepy to me.
But I do love me some seafood Friday nights and Sunday Brunch both at The Arlington Hotel. It's been awhile since I went there but it was always really good, not cheap, but really good.
As for the horses they are really fun. My only problem with them is you watch about a 45 to 90 second race which is very exciting, and then you sit for 45 minutes with absolutely nothing to do except sit and watch the gate crew walk the horses to the gates once they've been walked by the trainers. I guess you can spend a few minutes picking your horse for the next race but its just a dull time. My wife always kicks my azz betting. I look over the race book at last start the horse had, who the jockey is, etc. etc. My wife chooses the one with the "cutest or catchiest name" and always wins more than me.
It gets people who can buy a place and have a boat, in order to get to the nice beaches. And then some folks for the casinos. Best place in MS for sure but even it isn't seeing some just overall heavy tourist traffic, compared to most any other place.
No lake, no mountain, no beach, no nothing. We got travel baseball though.
North Georgia is an awesome destination even if you're not a wine drinker. But I prefer it in the fall when the leaves are turning.
Duh. Laurel. You never heard of Ben & Erin and Hometown? Seriously, I don't really get it, but it's amazing how many tourists have been coming to Laurel the last 6 - 8 years.
It's not Orange Beach or the Panhandle traffic, but it's still getting a good bit of traffic compared to most places. Go down there and drive 90 in the summer and in the fall and you will see a pretty noticeable difference. I'd guess it'd compare pretty favorably to anywhere in Alabama outside of Baldwin county? I don't really have a good frame of reference for Arkansas or Tennessee. If you look at numbers put out by tourism organizations, the gulf coast gets more traffic than say Hot springs. But not sure how reliable those numbers are.
Yea auto correct got me on Bathhouses. We only go to the Quapaw because they are a more modern spa in a historical building.
Horse racing can be an acquired vice. We lived in KY for a while and got really into the races at Keenland. The time between each race can be as much fun as the race. Before the first post I look over the program and start eliminting horses from each race, basicaly I look if a horse is moving up in class or dropping a class. After each race I grab a drink, cash my ticket from the previous race, then look at few data points and pick my top 4 horses. Run down to the paddoc and make my final decisions there. Place my bet and back up to my seat to watch the race. I've found that betting on a single horse only pays in a long shot, try those on the first two or three races. I mostly box or wheel my bets and if I break even for the day I'm happy.
Yeah, I agree it’s definitely odd. I spent most of my time there trying to run step for step with a 5 year old cause I was terrified if I lost sight of him I’d never find him in that place.
The MS Gulf Coast has about 18M tourists per year. I imagine a large percentage of that number are gamblers, but that's a lot of people coming through.
