We have an amazing head coach that basically saved the Oregon St Program

We have an amazing OC that helped Eli Manning to his best year ever in the NFL

Recruiting is better

I think this is a huge positive

In defense of your players, they are suffering a lot more than some fans. Look at how some of their games played out. Do you really think that is how they wanted them to end. You could of easily been 9-2 or 10-1. I think it is hurting them more on what could of been that how it ended. I admire your players for not giving up and fighting to the end. Good for them and they should be respected for that. I do not think I have ever seen a team have as much bad luck as the Huskers have this year.

Hoping for a PI call on 4th and 1 fade after not getting one call the whole game ... not very smart
btw what's with that old Hawk coach dude is kind of a whiner
btw your mlb gave up those long td runs , what is with that effort or lack of

Well, despite the record, I do like this year's team. They had a chance in every game, and seemed to fight all year long. (Which can't be said about the teams that won 9 games the last 7 years)

Great post and some need perspective. Thanks, BHoppy.

I think those long runs were more on the young safety that filled in for Gerry after the ejection. Looked like he missed his gap on those...

Something to build on.

After this season with Rudock, I would suggest if you don't have a pro style QB ready next year, you rent one for a season. Jake saved us this year..

I watched one Michigan game (can't remember the opponent, but you guys won). The announcers were saying that the passing scheme was designed to "help" Ruddock. The receivers were all on one side of the field. The announcers then replayed the pass plays, and circled the receivers...which were always on one side of the field. *sigh*, very good coaching staff recognizing and scheming to put your players in a position to succeed.

I am glad you like this team better than those 9 wins teams over the last 7 years because that 5 win team will be back next year. I know it may make you feel better to dump on Bo but I do not believe that this team under Bo would have won only 5 games. I believe Bo would have called games to minimize TA's weakness which certainly did not happen under MR.

It is pretty sad when some NU fans seem to not only accept results such as this but embrace them - This is season is the third losing season in 55 years, its not good, the players tried hard and did not quit but were let down by their coaches and the administration that hired these coaches

He may have helped Eli, but he's hasn't had an effect on Tommy's mechanics or decision making yet, and his play calling is questionable at best.

I don't think you can objectively say that recruiting is better or worse at this point. Personally I'm not very excited with the current class, but maybe we have a bunch of diamonds. Riley's strength is evaluation, so I'm waiting to see if that is the case.

QB play is essential for success.

Beathard > Rudock for Iowa
Rudock and Michigan WRs > Morris
Nebraska needs a QB or far better QB play

The difference from success can be looked at QB in the Big Ten. However, all parts are important.

Balance in all three phases help greatly. Iowa will lose PK and P for 2016. Special teams needs upgrade.

College football is all about QB play and Nebraska didn't have a good one this season. Seemed like everyone was picking them this past week, but I felt pretty confident going against TA knowing our defense is designed to take advantage of QB's like that.

Bring in a good QB and Neb will be fine

I'm sure you're absolutely right, if Bo was still here NU would've had 9 wins with at least 2 losses by 20 points or more. I supported Bo while he was here, but he had 7 seasons to show what he was capable of. Now I support M.R. while he's here. And I choose to see the positive, which is that the team was in EVERY game to the end. That is something that is an improvement. Sometimes you take a step back before you can go further forward. We'll see if M.R. can take those steps forward. But I will cheer for him to do so, just like I cheered for Bo to do so.

Even Indiana got to 6-6 this year, and they play in the tougher division. Iowa finished 12-0 and Northwestern will finish 10-2. 5-7 with the schedule we had is bad.

If Riley doesn't at least win the division by Year 3, it will be time to move on. Even Callahan achieved that much.

I took this post as tongue-in-cheek. Nebraska looked every bit a 5-7 team. They were fortunate it wasn't worse.

Out of the 12 games, how many did you feel good about the way NU played? The Minnesota game, for sure. MSU, as well. Rutgers? Well, the first 25 minutes looked good. What about the rest? Out of the 12 opponents, how many did you think had talent that NU simply couldn't compete with? Any of them? Purdue's only win against an FBS school this year was against Nebraska. That last happened in 1959, when KSU beat Nebraska and had no other 1A wins. NU played a lot of bad football this year. That's what they were - a bad football team.

I dunno...there were so many failures this year. I've never seen another Nebraska season like it. I guess we'll look to the future - nothing bad has happened in the future yet, so that's preferable to looking back as this crap-fest.
