The fourth matchup is between the number two seed, A Christmas Story, and the 10 seed, A Muppet Christmas Carol.

Based on the humorous writings of author Jean Shepherd, this beloved holiday movie follows the wintry exploits of youngster Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley), who spends most of his time dodging a bully (Zack Ward) and dreaming of his ideal Christmas gift, a "Red Ryder air rifle." Frequently at odds with his cranky dad (Darren McGavin) but comforted by his doting mother (Melinda Dillon), Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his glasses and his hopes intact.

The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Other Muppets -- Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle -- weave in and out of the story, while Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases -- past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness.

Muppets, easily. Already gave my 2 cents on Christmas Story, but that movie is pretty bleh for me. It's weirdly kind of a "cruel" Christmas movie, for lack of better word. I think it really captures mid-century life in America, but for me, being a 90's/2000's kid.. it just doesn't resonate

If you're of a certain age, A Christmas Story has been overplayed to the point of exhaustion. Still a good movie and pretty good Christmas day background noise before the NBA starts playing.

Yeah and thats another thing.. back before streaming, when you were kind of stuck watching whatever was either on cable, or you had a media copy of, it was Christmas Story that was on 24/7 (and quite literally, playing 24/7 ON Christmas).. and I always felt like there were so many other Christmas movies I'd rather watch.

I think I find A Christmas Story to be the most overrated on this list. It's not bad, it's still a good Christmas movie.. but it ranks far lower than a lot on this list. It's not a movie I need to watch every Christmas, like I do with Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, etc.

^ I think it’s interesting how very few movies can break into the “watch every year” circulation of classics. Elf is the only one since the mid 90s that has made it.

I am a Muppets nerd, so I will be voting for them in every round. But I honestly think their Christmas Carol is one of the best things they have ever done.

I know disliking A Christmas Story has become a thing in some circles but if you limit your viewing of it to once every couple years, it's still a fantastic movie that everyone can relate too. I'm not sure Ted Turner expected us to sit and watch the same Christmas movie several times in a row but I guess some have done that which has lead to burnout. It just hits though, from wrapping up school activities before Christmas break to decorating with your family and going shopping at the busiest time of year, and then deciding in your kid brain on one major gift you want and becoming obsessive over it the entire month of December.

I can't relate to puppets in human clothing.
