As we bid 2025 farewell officially and the HSFB season over for over a week or two now, for some longer I pose this question to you. What was the best game you saw this season and why?
I would say Maury vs Bishop McNamara. Underrated win for Maury IMO. Maury went up against a team that plays in a tough WCAC which is a step up in competition compared to the VHSL. 3OT game, lots of big plays. Do i believe Maury would consistently beat them? Honestly I don’t. BM was a little bigger and ran the ball well but Maury had some big plays to set up good field position and contained the BM passing. Maury Qb was accurate as well so since you play one game and not a series, anything can happen.
I was able to watch both Heritage vs. LCA games and they were both some of the best I've seen in a while, not just this season.
Round 1 was an offensive chess match with both teams showing off their high-powered scoring capabilities and capitalizing on defensive miscues. Heritage wins 35-33
Round 2 was a defensive masterpiece for both teams with excellent play on the lines, with LCA winning the war of attrition and taking the Region 3C Championship in OT 14-7
Lake Taylor vs Kettle Run or Magna Vista...both games came down to final snap, tremendous back and forth contests.
Heritage-LCA, either game depending on your offense or defense preference, they did both.
