The first half of "Baker Street" has to be up there. Honestly, the parts with vocals kinda ruin the song.

They haven't disappeared. But, the short answer to your question is the Music Industry with capitals M and I.

Artists used to cut their teeth in dive bars, etc & worked their way up.

I leave it there & let actual musicians make their case.

Because instrumentals don't allow for brilliant lyrics featuring words like yeet and skrrrt, or songs bout tailgates and pontoons. Instrumentals just don't allow for that sort of creative delivery.

I did not say they were gone, trying to sound like an old fogie, I said they were no longer as popular as they used to be. I was trying to sound like you, without sounding like an a$$.
