MW still has lots to prove as no one thinks they belong here, or can hang around, even after beating a very solid Benet team.

Willowbrook is very sound and has excellent coaching... MW has several high-level playmakers and a RB in Jake Bellizzi who may be one of the toughest runners in the state.

Nothing to lose for MW, which makes them a very dangerous team.

#7 Sacred Heart-Griffin (8-2) at #2 Washington - SHG, because I want it to be.

#4 Phillips (8-2) vs. #5 Prairie Ridge (8-2) PR - PR. See above, but this time not because of a fondness, but because I do not like Phillips.

#7 Mt. Carmel (9-1) at #23 Lake Zurich (7-3) - As much as ESL v MC is showcase stuff, let’s have LZ win this so there be another big BBQ down in the Boogie.

#12 Maine West (9-1) at #5 Willowbrook (10-0) - Office right by MW - let’s pick them. Las Adada at Oakton/Elmhurst gets a shout out.

#4 H-F (9-1) at #20 Barrington (7-3) Eff Barrington.

#8 Warren (9-1) vs. #9 Hinsdale Central (8-2) Meh. Does it matter?

Naz-Hersey should be a lot of fun. A lot of points too. My Naz inside guys are usually very honest and they speak very very highly of Hersey which leads me to believe it’ll be a good one. I don’t really know anything about Hersey personally but I’m excited.

Thanks for the MW pick! You will definitely be in the minority on this one! Should be a great game as MW has the skill players to keep up with a lot of teams... both teams have multiple players that go both ways, so it could be a battle of attrition too. Jake Bellizzi is a beast at RB and is a great kid and tough competitor... he will be very hard to stop for Willowbrook, or any team.

Las Asadas is very good... great taste in Mexican food....

Hersey beat MW in week #4... speed, speed, speed... MW was leading with 2 minutes left in the first half and had two tough to's deep in their own territory which put them behind... Hersey figured out our young (at the time) secondary and we couldn't keep up in the 2nd half. They have a smallish (5'7"?) receiver "Casper" that is an ISU commit.
1,087 – Kacper Rutkiewicz (Hersey), 57 catches, 12 TD (1,087 yards is school record)

Also have a young QB who is tall, but gets it to the right places:
1,913 – Ryan Justice (Hersey), 98-for-167 passing, 22 TD, 4 INT

Not sure if they have enough defense to stop Naz, but that is a decent scouting report on Hersey.... could be fun...

Against LWC Friday, Hersey also had some big offensive output from their TB (Hansen) and another WR (Carso). They will need to be productive from all offensive positions and try to keep on scoring with every possession. Naz has greater big-play potential and will continue to pile up the points to be sure.

Nice should be an exciting matchup, speed on speed. Explosive offense vs explosive offense. Not saying it’ll be the best game but should be a fun interesting one.

don't over look Glenwood at Crete Monee. Good chance to see a team we don't see up here often.

Since nobody gives the far northern suburbs any love, I'll throw out Antioch-Lakes. It may not have the same high profile as some of those others, but schools in the same district that included a huge come from behind win the first time they played should make for some fireworks Saturday.

marist should dominate this game from start to finish.
although nc has a great qb, the line play is meh and the receiving core is not overly fast. and their defense can give up big plays

Dude whatever you are smokin I want some.

Sam Jackson is lightening fast.

Agree with you that the NC Defense is suspect. Any decent offense is going to put up a ton of points on them.

that is why it is core not just one guy. did not mean in any way that nc would be out of it. I know they have the tools to make it a shootout or close game. I am just saing that if marist is as good as publicized, they should be able to contain one receiver and control the game.

One receiver? The one who is not even close to the top receiver in terms of receptions or yards on that team?

Maybe they have had some injuries on the oline I'm not aware of but I saw them in person week 1 and thought the NC oline was huge and tough. Thorne has gotten the hype this year and rightfully so because his numbers are off the charts. But the NC RB Danny Hughes has been a consistent producer running behind their hogs. Sam Jackson will be fastest kid on field, but McDonald and Suchevits are playmakers too. Suchevits is a 6'3 205lb bruiser who is a nice big target on short gimme passes when secondaries are playing off the ball. I'll grant that McDonald isn't a power 5 WR threat like Jackson but the chemistry he and Thorne have is pretty solid. McDonald is #1 in receptions, yards and TDs I believe (and at any rate the athleticism of WRs is cushioned quite a bit when you have a serious D1 Qb throwing the ball 35 yards down field on the money, on a frozen rope).

Defensively, NC is OK-not-great. Versus high caliber offenses they have struggled (HC scored 28 when it was 100% healthy, LWE 38 and CG 55). Great defenses don't allow that. But they held an impressive NV to 14 pts and scored defensively to win (Jack Jopes had the pick-6, he is one of the state's top DBs, all-state last year), and their holding WV to 14 pts doesn't look so bad after the WV O just exploded vs the Brook.

Not trying to stir anything up but I watched the Stevie-Marist game last week and based on how Stevie had success thru the air I'm giving NC a slight nod in this one. Like @mchsalumni I'm expecting a shootout. I would be totally shocked if Marist came into Naperville and just dominated them from start to finish.

If Hersey figures out how to prevent McCarthy from playing backyard football with Love and Evans, this one should be close.

Thanks Bowie. Trying to enjoy each week of this. Hoping it doesn’t end for a little while yet. Tough one this week for sure - but they all are at this point.

Can completely relate... my son is a Senior at Maine West and it's been a great ride for him the last 3 years... love to watch them play and want it to last as long as possible, but there are no easy games from this point forward.

All of these teams deserve to be here and the boys on all the teams will lay it on the line as it could be their last game ever.

Fun football to watch as the stars come out to play!

Good luck to all again this round.

4A...Lots of nice matchups, but the most interesting probably is Chicago Urban Prep Bronzeville hosting Marengo...worst, Murphysboro taking a 4 hour trip to McNamara...

2A...Culture shock, Hope at GCMS...Tuscola hosting Bismark-Henning-RA...Sterling Newman @ Illini West...worst, Maroa @ Chester...

1A....Princeville @ Aurora Christian...

"Defensively, NC is OK-not great." Are you serious Clark?

That defense is awful. Look for Marist to put up 40+ and NC to manage no more than 28. This game will be a let down for those thinking it's the GOTW.
