Best Missed Call Ever?

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th of the title game, down 9-0 in a 1 hitter, Parker Noland tried to bunt for a hit. He caught James off guard and beat out the throw.. But luckily the moron Perry Costello wasn't at first and the umpire used his emotional intelligence to "miss" the call. One of the few moments that I can think of where the argument for human umpires has a good case..

ETA. Noland will be back next year and should wear one between the numbers in his first AB at The Dude for that crap.

What a puss *** move to try to bunt from the cleanup spot down 9 with 2 outs in the 9th. Bush League.

Dude… this has already been discussed. It’s largely agreed that it was a ***** move to try to bunt your way on with two outs down 9 in the bottom of the 9th. They deserved the out call based on that alone.

Plus if Corbin really wanted to be a dick about it and prolong the inevitable he could have contested and demand a review. He didn’t. Game over.

The best missed call was the strike em out throw em out that would have got them out of the inning down 6 - 0. Instead a 3 run jack for Kellum.

Yep. That one was awful and took away any slim chance they had of getting back into the game. Of course, all those batters box strikes Rocker was getting probably kept it from getting out of hand even earlier than it did.

I call for an unwritten rule where if your ***** *** calls for a bunt in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs and down by 9 runs that it is an automatic out regardless of the throw.

That was an iconic call from Jim Ellis. It caught him completely off guard and as a result I've heard more exciting calls on a 1st inning fly ball vs Valley.

I do too. My first thought was he's safe, our whole team is on the field celebrating, and we may be celebrating twice. It's also possible that Corbin didn't want to see one of his guys have another at bat with the way they were playing.

Our guys played great in games 2 & 3 and Vandy was equally awful.

That was their catcher’s fault - he framed EVERY pitch, so the umpire didn’t know what to do when he didn’t frame that one - must’ve been a ball…

The catcher popping early probably made it look lower than it really was to the umpire. Great call though.

I'm giving you a hard time because this thread was about human umpires and for once I found value in their humanity. A robo ump calls Noland safe. Luckily, the ump got it right by making the wrong call

In fairness, I did ETA the bit about the bunt because, it was totally a ***** move.
