This year I got an invite from a friend to participate in a survivor pool that a guy he knows out in Cali has been doing for years. You picktwo teams per day to advance in round 1 and one team per day to advance starting in round 2. You can only pick a team once so if they win you cannot pick them again and if your team loses you are out. At first this sounded fairly simple, but mathematically you can only have at the absolute best 2 teams available in the final four (they both must be on opposite sides of the draw to have any shot) and possibly still one team to pick in the final game. It was the most unique concept I have seen for the tourney and I'm a lot more stoked about it than just filling out a bracket, which usually is in the trash by Saturday afternoon.
The pool as of right now has 2300 participants @ $20 per entry. So its a $46K pot and the winner takes all! The only stipulation and the reason this guy goes through the heartache each year is he requires the winner the donate 10% to a charity of his/her choice.
All is not totally lost this season for me now!
