The formation gives us more flexibility to run old-school MSU plays (rb/te screens; and more effective play-action passes).

This is a real tip-of-the-hat to the OL. If nothing else, it will help us in goal-line situations.

I'm all about the read option when it's working, but the more wrinkles you can give your offense the better you will be in the long run.
