Spot on no Bias! The CPS and certain suburban school districts have the reputation of not producing many academically qualified student athletes. Not all of them but a good number of them. The more affluent suburbs have that advantage over the CPS and other school districts.

If I am a parent of a young man or young lady looking for what is best for them as they go forward in life, unless I am an idiot, I would certainly look into the best academic and best social environments available.

I sent my kids to St. Ignatius while all of their friends went to different public and private high schools. Sure they beefed as they wanted to go with their different friends to various high schools most of which were closer to home. Education was the most important factor for us followed by learning how to live and respect others of different races or economic background. Speaking of D1 QB development as well. Obviously you can’t compare the 2 teams this year bc they were polar opposites.

The last 3 QB’s that have gone to LT have gone to Syracuse, NIU, & Cincinnati.

The last 3 QB’s from Naz prior to JJ I don’t believe ever threw a pass in college
Sounds like you have some biases. Maybe LT should have hired you to make the pitch to the McCarthy’s who sent both of their daughters to LT. Or maybe they could have showed up at just one game that was on their property.

After watching the Marist NAZ game I would say Brother Rices Defense would give NAZ (“best offense in state”) a lot of trouble.
Agreed as I don’t think naz’s 6A roster could compete with any of the top four 8A teams. But, on that topic, will Naz be SF’d again up to 8A next year?

No biases, just facts. I am not doubting him for going to play with an all star team.

My son was at LT when JJ was playing for LFC. I know for a fact LT coaches were at his games bc the players work the chains for their games.

As some have stated, and many have brushed over, going to a catholic school in the area of Westchester, Lyons, Berwyn, Hillside and Cicero is a far better option for education, let alone football. On top of that, due to smaller enrollment you have better opportunities to play in athletics. These are just facts. If you become successful at athletics, it make more kids on the fence want to attend. Not saying that recruitment does not occur, but when you send over 95% of your senior class to 2 year and 4 year institutions you don't necessarily need athletics and recruiting to attract kids. I would have never achieved what I did had I give to Morton West.

As for this team, I think Naz could certainly hang with the 8a teams, a rematch with Marist would have certainly yielded a different result. It was a great lesson for the team.

That conflicts with what I hear from one of the LFC coaches...that LT's head coach has not been involved with LFC and is nowhere to be found on game days. Just passing on what I've heard.

Best offense in the state? Right now, I'd be hard pressed to find a hotter offense than Bishop McNamara...QB Hiller has 12 TD passes in the last 3 games (school record 6 v. Murphysboro, 3 v. Effingham, 3 Rochester)...King just keeps rumbling...I have to figure they should actually be the favorite Friday...This may very well be the best offense Zinanni has ever had (and with 5 titles and 3 runners-up, he's had some good ones...)

I have high school teammates from Manteno who have kids playing at Mac right now...One of them married a traditional Manteno Catholic girl whose whole family went to Mac (siblings, parents, grandparents St. Patricks), has a priest uncle at a local parish, brothers & cousins played football at Mac - and since they live in Bourbonnais now Mac makes sense...Manteno has kids playing for them from families that used to send their kids to Mac 25 years ago - Manteno closed the educational gap, and now has football...I will not fault anyone for saying they want their kids getting the Catholic education...or to go to their alma mater...but I no longer buy into "I'm sending my kid to Mac just to play football..." And if the state goes with districts, there is no longer a benefit to Mac football because instead of the exposure of playing the catholic & suburban schools - they will be in a district with the I-8 programs...

Did this really just happen? Hasn’t anyone ever told you it’s dangerous to post after drinking heavily?! Just gonna go with that ....has to be the only reason you ruined this thread comparing a hot 3 game streak in the 4A bracket to the topic of this thread....

Haven't had a beer in almost 8 years...Other than the 21-20 loss at IC, Mac has put up 50 on an 8A, 49 on a 7A, 64 on a 6A, 51 on a 5A second rounder, 48 on a 4A qualifier, 38 on a quarterfinalist, 55 on a 5A, 52 on a 5A second rounder (407 total) - and playoffs of 59, 49, 42, and 52 (202 total)...Other than IC, that's an average of 50.875 points in the regular season, and 50.5 points in the playoffs...seems pretty hot to me...Hiller having a hot hand (5-7, 182, 3 TD, 4 carries, 27 yards, against Rochester) while opponents try to bottle up King (who still had 48 carries for 337 yards & 4 TDs against Rochester) shows an offense that has options...

And I think this thread was wrecked when the public/private discussion started instead of discussing offenses...

His point is NAZ is putting up points against the best teams in the state.

Congrats to MAC on a successful season but the caliber of your opponents don’t even compare to NAZ.

Lol...the best part is you trying to slide in “other than IC” who just happens to be the best team played thus far with an impressive 20 spot! I’m sure you have a great offense but ✋! I’m sure most of us agree that you lost our attention when you honestly mentioned success against Murphysboro

Lies, damn lies, and statistics...Only 3 teams have scored 40+ points in every game in the playoffs...McNamara, Monticello, and JCA...The Irish and Sages are both averaging 50.5 points per game in the playoffs (202 total)...47.4 regular season with the 20 against IC... Oh, but look who you played? Get over it, Mac & Monticello have the best offenses in the state, JCA got shut out by IC...Of course, Decatur St. Theresa averaged 56+ for the regular season...but they lost this weekend, and didn't hit 50 at all in the playoffs...

Given the amount of effort I've spent discussing McNamara in a good light this weekend, I either have hung out too close to some clients over the weekend, or haven't yet defrosted from the Illini game...

Panthers,

I will give you that Tyshon King is a special back that runs with power and the intent to punish his opponents. “He’s got legs like oak trees and great Shake” to quote a good friend, and IC struggled to tackle this kid. Even in considering these lauds, there is NO WAY you’re gonna sell me on BMac being the best offense in the state. Hell, I’m not even positive the best offense in the state will be playing this weekend.

I’d venture that no one has more 10+ yard pass attempts and/or completions than Naz this year. IMHO that, at the very least, makes them the most exciting offense in the state this year.

Couple that with their PPG, wins, athletes and still competing after thanksgiving and they have my vote for best offense in the state this year.

I hate excuses as much as the next guy but if this is one so be it.... the game was moved from 7 to 5 due to incoming storms and Nazareth looked like they came out flat and uninspired which would seem pretty abnormal for such a big game. I think it had a lot to do with the odd timing and having to either rush through or eliminate certain pre-game activities. They normally have a full 4 hours from 3 until 7. The game was moved to 5 but they were still dismissed at 3. Now I know the first response will be but Marist was in the same boat, right? Nope! It was a perfect storm that day... it was the day they announced the Officer Van Dyke verdict so Marist pre-emptively dismissed at 12 or 1230 in case there was trouble in the neighborhood. So Marist had from 1230 until 5 which would allow for a normal pregame routine. I’m just saying this may have played a role.... maybe. Even if not, a top offense can have a bad day. Especially when it’s pass heavy there is more room for error and a bad game.

I am only concerned about the tent.

What role does it play in the playoffs?

With bad weather does it have to come down and does that force the visiting team to just the locker room option?

Who takes care of the tent in the off-season?

Is it used for spring sports as well?

All visiting teams should get the tent option! It should be mantatory or the game is moved to when the tent can safely be hoisted.

Voodoo....should have mentioned this. When Highland visited JCA, they brought their own tent and put it up on the visitor sidelines. They even had portable heaters in their tent. I was actually very impressed with the whole setup.

Wow really? Naz better get the donors lined up to combat this upgraded tent ursurper. That is damn awesome. I wonder if they have cooling machines in the arsenal for the early part of the season?

Weeks 1-4 - tent + mist machines
Week 5-6 - tent + (depends on weather)
Weeks 7-playoffs - tent + heaters.

Some excellent ideas regarding full utilization of the tent. This tent vs. non-tent team debate could develop into a public vs. private situation. JCA was able to overcome the disadvantage of not having a tent and sent Highland and their tent packing in this year's quarterfinals.

@Voodoo Tatum 21,

Naz has had the heated and chilled water hook ups(yes I know the video says chilled but it works with warm water too and for multiple hookups) for player vest packs for years to keep core temperatures stable during games for their starters and especially 2 way players. It’s amazing how much better you play when you have the very best facilities and equipment available. Couple that with snazzy uniforms and who plays better than a good looking player. Sorry guys had to peel back some of the secrets!

Damn that’s impressive! We don’t got anything like that in District 204!! We do have a bottle of mustard or two on the sidelines to treat cramps old school style!

But still - I think portable heaters and mist machines should be next on the list! I mean if Highlands tent has them.... then Naz’s tent wants them too!!;)

That’s because it is a public tent!....and they don’t have heating and cooling jackets! Just wait till next year When Highlands tent finds out Nazs tent has cooling jackets and the tent arms race will be on!!

Yeah Naz won’t see 5A again for at least 4 or 5 seasons. By then Naz will have the nextgen pads, Unis, and cleats that drop your 40 by 0.5secs and increase your vert by 8”.

Oddly enough just had that discussion with a guy last night, the challenge is that they have to return to the title game at 7A again next year to get the push up in 2020 to 8A. It’s certainly possible but there will have to be a lot of players stepping up to play big roles for this years graduating class.

I think the odds are far higher that Naz sees 8A in the next 4-5 years then the other way to 5A.

It’s definitely a real possibility.

* you have Eville and Glenbard West in 8A almost every year now and they aren’t slipping into 7A anymore. Teams like Glenbard East out of the Upstate 8 are taking those 7A slots now.

* ESL might not be able to petition up (their conference doesn’t want them to)

* many other teams have to reload quite a bit (STCN, Batavia)

That leaves - Mount Carmel, Batavia/WWS or someone out of the Dukane, and a few others. I’m sure some other teams will step up and be in the mix - but I could definitely see it happening for Naz.

I’m dropping the gavel, I was willing to consider the discussion and waited to watch the game tonight...BMac is a great team and had a great run to the championship game, however, it’s quite easy to see they are NOT the best offense in the state or even in 4A. Looking forward to tomorrow’s games!

IC offense better than Mac offense. That sophomore back is gonna be a hell of a player.

Neither offenses are best in the state.
