Spot on no Bias! The CPS and certain suburban school districts have the reputation of not producing many academically qualified student athletes. Not all of them but a good number of them. The more affluent suburbs have that advantage over the CPS and other school districts.
If I am a parent of a young man or young lady looking for what is best for them as they go forward in life, unless I am an idiot, I would certainly look into the best academic and best social environments available.
I sent my kids to St. Ignatius while all of their friends went to different public and private high schools. Sure they beefed as they wanted to go with their different friends to various high schools most of which were closer to home. Education was the most important factor for us followed by learning how to live and respect others of different races or economic background. Cost a ton of money in tuition but in the end was well worth it. If private schools offer that kind of high school environment were as the local public school doesn't measure up to that level would any parent chose the latter.
