Sorry if this has been discussed already...

Have a group driving down from Starkville in the morning. Right now the plan is to go down Hwy. 82 through Tuscaloosa to Prattville, then hit I-65 to Montgomery, and I-85 across to Auburn. Anybody have a better suggestion?

Starkville to Tuscaloosa to Montgomery and hit 85. Ive driven all over the state of Alabama and I personally like places you can stop as needed. My opinion is this route gives you that with a lot of 4 lane.

Guys, lay off the fellow Dog fans. You're supposed to treat Rebel's like this not fellow Dog's. I'm sure at some point in your life, you're almighty knowledge and wisdom will break down on you and you'll be required to ask a question of someone. I hope they're more helpful than you.

Remember, there are many people that have a life beyond their computer. There are many people that don't even own a computer and there are those that just refuse to use them. For those people, your Mapquest advice doesn't do much good.

Now, for those with computer sense, Mapquest still leaves a lot to be desired. For example, Mapquest doesn't tell you about that small Alabama town like Gordo where Alabama's finest often sit waiting on game weekend for those with slightly heavy right feet. They especially like writing tickets to State and Ole Miss fans (The later deserve the ticket anyway).

So, what he was probably asking was if anyone had experience with this route and knew if there was a better way to go or places to avoid, slow down or speed like hell through going this route.

Lay off your fellow Dog fan. You never know when you might need help and he'll be the one standing over you.

What effing world do you live in?

Also, if the dumbass doesn't own a computer, how did he get on this site to ask that stupid question?

his entire post is scolding you, rather condescendingly, for being rude, yet throughout his post he suggests its ok to be rude to Ole Miss fans and thinks they "deserve" a ticket going through a speed trap. Honestly, people who take the rivalry to that extreme need to be put out of their misery. Oh, I'm sorry, was that rude?

a legitimate question. Depending on other people's knowledge of speed traps, construction, or whatever else might pop up. I don't see anything wrong with the question. The reply of "Thanks *******" was not appropriate since you have to expect someone throwing out a reply such as look it up on mapquest, when asking a question worded the way it was originally stated. All that being said, he should have either a) asked for speed trap or construction info or b) learn to use mapquest or a map.

PS. Yes I am bored at work on a Saturday.

he should have asked about speed traps. THAT would've been a legit question. Asking (on the internet) how to get from point A to point B is just dumb. There are dozens of websites that can tell you that, and anyone who can find the Six Pack board can find Google maps. Maybe it's being an *******, but sometimes you have to find out **** for yourself.

Some people act like it takes a lot of effort to answer somebody's question. Who cares if the question has already been asked and answered. If you don't think the guy deserved an honest answer, why don't you just keep your trap shut?

Seeing that he already had a route in mind, it's entirely possible that he'd already checked out mapquest. I use Mapquest all the time, having just moved to a new city, and it rarely ever gives you the shortest route, time-wise, because it doesn't tell you about traffic, construction, lights, etc.

I'm not calling anyone in particular an ***, but I do think that the anonymity of this message boards leads to a lot more *******/smartass comments then you would get in face to face conversations.

I think he just framed his question badly....he ask for best route to Auburn from Starkville right? Now he then gives a "potential" route no? No more No less

What he should have asked was:
I am going to Auburn for the game Saturday, here is the route (he then list route) I plan to use to get down. Is there anything I should be aware of using this route like: speeding traps, construction zones, any places to avoid stopping for gas, etc? Also, if there is a better and more efficient route that someone can share other than the one I listed I would greatly appreciate......

Maybe he could have framed the question better, but at the end, he did ask if anyone had any better suggestions other than the route he already had planned. A perfectly reasonable request if you ask me, but that wasn't my point. I was attempting to comment on the tendency of some people to jump all over someone with the slightest provocation instead of just using the "Back" button on their browser and moving on to the next thread.
