Cary-Grove Morgan Park at Gatley great crowd started Cary Groves
run in play-offs
Worst coaching I've ever seen. Morgan park threw about 30 consecutive deep routes that kept being overthrown by Demetrius Jones. This was in the early days of streaming games, I believe it was on nfhs

wasn't in IL yet but would love to have seen ESL-GW at Duchon in '08 with ESL game winning score coming on statue of liberty on final play (or so I have bene told.)

GW - Stevie '14 was the hardest hitting game I have ever seen in high school. Those were two heavyweights throwing haymakers up and down the field. I have a feeling tomorrow may look similar

I was there. Deerfield almost returned the kickoff back.

I was at this game, Deerfield almost ran the Kickoff back. It was a great battle

Yep. Greg Scarpone got tripped up by a shoestring tackle or he was gone.
Taylor Bell used to write about it as the best high school game he ever saw. Hard hitting game.

For the coldest game I remember I would take the 1977 5A championship game. East Leyden defeated Deerfield 8-0 on a completely frozen Hancock Field at ISU. High winds, incredibly low temperatures for November. Miserable conditions.

That weather was brutal from what I remember!! Wish the outcome was different! Deerfield had a great D that year lead by a very undersized DL John Murphy who was an animal!

John was amazing! The other tackle, Tony Benassi, was awfully good too.
First string quarterback for Deerfield was out, not that they threw the ball a bunch anyway. :) But the fact that the field was frozen negated the Deerfield quickness, plus they fumbled the ball a bunch. East Leyden was a deserving champion!

Went to Montini v. Prairie Ridge LAST year. Fumble recovery for a touchdown by the Kapp kid to win that game in the snow was pure insanity. PR had them down 14 and ready to end the run... Montini storms back and that scoop and score was incredible.

very very different this year. but last years game was incredible.
