Steve Gorman, drummer for The Black Crowes, was born in Michigan but grew up in Hopkinsville.

Everly brothers would have to be way up there, maybe not the most talented but most influential and the most songs covered by other artists.

Cage the Elephant

Also, I didn't really think there were people in this world that didn't consider Billy Ray Cyrus anything but a complete joke but apparently somebody doesn't,

Ricky Skaggs
Bill Monroe
Merle Travis
Everly Brothers

Richard Hell, Dwight Yoakam, and Adrian Belew are awesome in their own right, but don't have the reach and influence of those other guys.

Loretta could be in the mix, as well

Hell affected culture and by extension society. I think his influence puts him way above the Patti Loveless' of the world.

Jim James is a fantastic song writer and guitar player. He is my favorite musician from Kentucky because I don't like country.
They're all fine musicians and represent the state well. I'm an old rocker and really enjoy their music!

Agreed, it's OK not to like music, but I hate when people say it sucks cause they don't like it. All these folks work hard at their craft.

I'm of the mindset that if it sounds good to your ears then it's good music. Nobody else matters.

There is a difference in a good musician and good music. Folks gotta pay the bills. Sometimes that involves making ****** music that appeals to money-spending people.

True but people have different opinions of what's ****** music and what's not. My point is that what sounds like **** to someone may not sound like **** to someone else. Who are we to judge? I'll be damned if I judge someone else's taste in music.

Love Dwight Yoakam, was born in Pikeville, but raised from an early age in Ohio, not sure I would really count him.
