While Cowherd has his moments, and its always fun to listen to someone who's opinionated, and has a football-first mentality, that openly talks about the SEC being the best, I've heard him, many times, use MSU as an example of a bad team, even during good years, which slightly annoys me. The other thing that annoys me is he's a HUGE fan of the national powers. His favorite sports teams are the Lakers, the Patriots, the Yankees, Duke, and USC, and he acts like the smartest guy in the room when he's usually right by always picking the favorite.
Mike & Mike are good if you've only got a few minutes. They grab your attention with the banter, which is pretty fun, but they rarely go deep into a topic, and are very soft on guests.
Scott VanPelt and Ryan Russillo are easy to like, especially for the college-aged crowd (also, if you're a fan of adult swim, they have fun with the guys that do the voices of characters like Carl from ATHF and Early from Squidbillies) Almost always positive (almost feel-good) which is starkly contrast to Cowherd, but there's also some substance there (unlike M&M). If you love college football or basketball a bit more than the pros, it's probably the show for you.
Doug Gottlieb is like a younger, nicer Colin Cowherd. He's still synical as all hell, but rarely says anything that makes me want to turn the radio off and/or vomit. As a former OKstate basketball player, he probably offers the best insight around college basketball season. Gets a bit dull without him having a partner.
If for whatever reason, you're driving in the middle of the night, AllNight with Jason Smith is really really easy listening. He's like a nice uncle or cousin. A fair amount of laughs for a one man show on graveyard shift. For some reason he kind of reminds me of Food Network's Alton Brown, but of ESPN radio. You're not going to be sad to have to turn him down if you get a phone call, but he'll keep you interested enough to stay awake, without being a dick.
Finebaum, as everyone knows, is a blowhard who just likes to stir the pot. his callers are buffoons, and he insults everyone he can just to get ratings, save mighty Alabama. One of the top 5 people in this country I would like to punch in the face, even though I know that's what he wants.
Dan Patrick has slowly become one of my favorites. Listening to his show is like going golfing with the males in your extended family. He's like a younger grandpa or older father, who's got a very laid back manner, is a little bit of a perv, and has a pass to say whatever he wants. The crew interaction is one of my favorite parts of his show, you'll always hear thoughts, opinions, or funny stories, from several of his cohorts during the show (there's a good 4 or 5 of them that'll chime in sometimes). It's apparent that he's still bitter with ESPN, but I do think the way he labels them "the mothership" is pretty funny.
