Best Sports to watch in HD?

With the US Open starting today I was watching highlights from the last time it was held at Olympic Club, and it hit me how much HD television has changed the way we watch sports. As much as I love attending games, it's pretty nice to sit in font of the TV with a cold beer and good food and be able to watch multiple events in incredible clarity.<div>
</div><div>That said, I think the sport HD has most benefitted is golf. You can actually see the contours in the greens and the elevation changes on the course. Watching the Masters in HD is just flat out incredible.</div><div>

Every sport is helped by such an enormous amount, it's hard for me to differentiate which is helped more. I guess I have trouble noticing the difference between a million times better and a thousand times better.

I remember thinking 10 years ago, how can it really be that much better? Boy was I wrong. I won't even watch SD channels any more.

Do you watch all sports in 3D if it's available? Is one particularly better than the others? Are you able to sit through an entire 3-hr event with the glasses on or do you only use them occasionally?

As big as 3D was this time last year, it really seems to be dying down but I'm still somewhat interested. Pricing has dropped substantially so I may give it a shot with my next TV.

the most difference watching hockey. It's nice to actually be able to see the puck. It makes a difference in all of them.

Hockey in SD is very difficult to watch (remember when they highlighted the puck with a little blue "flame" effect?). Hockey in HD is one of the best spectator sports, in my opinion.

A basketball court and the players have similar skin tones. So the players blend in with the playing surface more than in any other sport. You also have 10 guys running around in a confined space which adds to the problem.

So having a wide screen helps the confinement because there is more zooming in on the action. The high def helps resolve players against the playing surface.
