When you look at both of our most recent runs to success, it's pretty evident how they happened. From the mid to late 90s to the early 2000s, we both had some good runs of success. During that period, Auburn and Alabama both went through probations. Auburn hired Tubberville to rebuild things. Alabama went through a coaching merry-go-round. LSU went through Dinardo before hiring Saban to rebuild things.
Basically, those three programs had a lot of flux during that period where they were trying to find solid footing, and we were both able to take advantage. And to be honest, our two programs having success didn't have a negative effect on the other program. It's not like only one of us could be successful. We were both having success at the same time, sometimes playing for bowl positioning in the Egg Bowl.
Now, Auburn, LSU, and Alabama all found stable footing, and we both hit the skids. Your program having 7 losing seasons in the last 8, and ours having 4 losing seasons in the last 5 obviously didn't help the other program out. What would be best for us is if Auburn were to fire Tubberville, and if they were to struggle to find a replacement, having to take someone that was not a good hire. Then we'd need LSU to hit a skid with Miles, possibly firing him. I don't think Bama is going away, but if somehow Notre Dame could buy away Saban, that would help as well.
