The Banana Splits. How could I have forgotten them
Well I forgot a lot of stuff. Here is more from the 60s when I was a kid.

"The Outer Limits" scared the hell out of me. So much so, that I remember having a nightmare and waking up screaming and crying after watching an episode one night. LOL!

In the morning there was Ray Rayner. Just had to get that first cartoon fix and it was Bugs Bunny every morning. That was followed by Garfield Goose on WGN. Then there was Bozo at noon. Cub games in the afternoon too. Those were the days of WGN greatness. Creature Features on Saturday nights too.

Did you know that WGN back then was basically run by 5-6 guys? If they weren't on-camera they were running the cameras. Those guys were some serious entertainers.

EDIT Add: and they only had one (small) studio for all their different shows Bozo, Ray Rayner, etc.
Was I the only one that watched Gigglesnort Hotel? Always loved when he brought Blob out!
BJ and the Dirty Dragon
And that crazy lemon dropping fool.
The Lemon Meringue Kid

When Ray Rayner’s son attended Loyola, he volunteered the prop designer to paint the backdrops for the school play. He even painted some of the school hallways with murals.
Interesting to note that he discovered his knack for entertainment from performing in plays when he was a POW for two-and-a-half years after his bomber was shot down over France in WWII.

ABC Wide World of Sports
Who can forget the intro?

Exposed this kid from Englewood to a lot of sports and parts of the world I would have never known about.

We watched these programs as a family:
Disney Wide World of Color
Bonanza
Red Skelton
Candid Camera

If I could get a TV w/o the youngest sibs:
Man From UNCLE
Twilight Zone
Danger Man
Outer Limits
Route 66
12 o’clock High
and reruns of Science Fiction Theater

Interesting post. Ray was also a very shrewd when it came to the stock market.

BJ and Dirty Dragon? Yep, I remember that one. BJ could draw those pictures with the marker.

So, we have Barbara Eden in her outfit and Dirty Dragon in the same thread! LOL!!

Since we have no sports to talk about, what was your favorite TV show growing up? Mine, Six Million Dollar Man. The Steve Austin/Sasquatch battles were epic.

gig:

Now here is an intellectual property question I can stomach.

The Andy Griffith Show

The Red Skelton Show

Gilligan's Island

Batman: I still have fantasies over Lee Meriwether in the skin-tight, Catwoman body suit. A former Miss America 1955, even at age 85, this woman still looks fantastic.

Gunsmoke

Night Gallery

The Twilight Zone

Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In

Hawai'i Five-0

MASH: Was good for the first five seasons. After 1977, it turned into a non-stop bullhorn blaring anti-war themes.

As I matured intellectually in college, I developed a deep affection for Dave Allen at Large and Monty Python.

MWittman:

I would have to disagree slightly with you on the Cat Woman thing. I felt Julie Newmar was the best looking woman to play that role. She was also more seductive. But, yours is certainly not a bad choice.

And speaking of Gilligan's Island...Mary Ann or Ginger? For me? Mary Ann.

LTHS:

We may be forced into a tie-breaking question between Meriwether and Newmar. Obviously our tastes differ, but I would still cast my vote for Meriwether. Unlike Newmar, Meriwether won a beauty contest, several I believe, and at 85 Meriwether has aged better.

Like you, I would choose the raven-haired Mary Ann over the sultry, red-headed Ginger. I always suspected Ginger was more high-maintenance than the average gal (all women are high-maintenance), but Mary Ann always struck me as a closet nymphomaniac.

Like I say, yours isn't a bad choice either.

I wouldn't say all women are high maintenance. Some women are very low maintenance.

As for your final comment on Mary Ann, I would agree and yes, it's the quiet shy types you have to look out for...or should I say, hope for.
