Extraordinary.“Wife with the great rack,” what an understatement. Megan Price. Yes, it’s a flag.

Generation Kill (was on HBO about Iraq war)I liked the Lousy TV Show thread. So here is my go at the "Best"
TO Star Trek - How was this so good on a budget so small?
The Wild Wild West - Fun from beginning to end. I remember it was on at the same time as TV Quarterbacks, so seeing the reruns was a treat. Michael Dunn was probably the greatest bad guy ever.
TV Quarterbacks - Yes, imagine a time that the greatest coach of all time would spend an hour with fans every Thursday nite in the Fall.
The Prisoner - This show was a summer filler, yet it was so special it demanded more time.
Band of Brothers - We had a huge projection television and I watched this series with my son and 6 of his friends. No noise, just eyes fixed on the screen.
The World at War - No documentary has been better than this. I would not change a thing.
The Twilight Zone (original) - From beginning to end it never disappointed. Even the bad episodes were good.
Sherlock - Perfect casting and great writing. Andrew Scott was so wonderful and evil as Moriarty
Twin Peaks - The first season makes up for the rest.
Trailer Park Boys - How did this not become another Monty Python?
Monty Python - I remember seeing this at 11:00 PM on a Saturday nite on the PBS station in 1971. I could not believe that TV could be this good.
Derry Girls - Yes, I enjoyed a show about teenage girls growing up in 1990s Ireland.
The Queen's Gambit - Good from beginning to end. This surprised me to no end.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Maybe the most acquired taste program on this list.
So many really good ones have been mentioned.Generation Kill (was on HBO about Iraq war)
OK, Archie.I think that it has not aged well. At the time it was unique, but with time people learned to appreciate it for the propaganda it was.
Why was Frazier unlikeable? We should include Cheers - possibly the best sitcom ever. I wouldn't argue. 2 times as funny as M*A*S*H*.
But, as far as Frazier goes, I go back to my comments about Seinfeld and The Office. Where are the likable characters? Frazier was the most unlikable character on Cheers. His wife was even worse. His brother on Frazier was insufferable. Even the Benny Hill broad and his Dad (and dog) were annoying.
Who needs likeable if the characters are funny? Dwight Schrute and Michael Scott were completely unlikeable but hilarious. I would say the same for Cliff Clavin, Lilith Crane and Carla Tortelli. We should include Cheers - possibly the best sitcom ever. I wouldn't argue. 2 times as funny as M*A*S*H*.

B/C he was a narcissistic a**hole maybe? I love Kelsey Grammar. I don't love the character. Why was Frazier unlikeable?
+1. Especially Modern Family. Its tone was to make fun of everything and everybody. How it achieved its balance of sweetness and zero PC is something awe-inspiring. Every damn episode.Modern Family
Schitt's Creek
There was a forefather to the show w/ a common actor, and it bows to no one when it comes to zero PC.+1. Especially Modern Family. Its tone was to make fun of everything and everybody. How it achieved its balance of sweetness and zero PC is something awe-inspiring. Every damn show.
...and music up until the early 80's. Blame it on the content, not the viewer or the listener.Apparently, many people in this thread stopped watching TV in 1988.
Content? TV has had a golden age in the past 20-25 years. With the advent of Netflix and streaming, a lot of money shifted towards TV show making the production so much better, as well as the actors. It's really not even close....and music up until the early 80's. Blame it on the content, not the viewer or the listener.
Some people aren't looking for production value. They just want to be entertained. Network sitcoms are dead. I agree that there are streaming shows w/ high production qualities. That doesn't mean everyone loves them or wants to watch them.Content? TV has had a golden age in the past 20-25 years. Not everyone. Just most. That doesn't mean everyone loves them or wants to watch them.
They're up against garbage. They should succeed. Not everyone. Just most.
OK. I didn’t see him like that.B/C he was a narcissistic a**hole maybe? I love Kelsey Grammar. I don't love the character.
I'm curious what "garbage" is compared to Three's Company. I thought people only watched that show for the hot chicks. They're up against garbage. They should succeed.
Quick laughs, physical comedy, double entendres, etc.I'm curious what "garbage" is compared to Three's Company. I thought people only watched that show for the hot chicks.
Some "newer" shows that I've liked areApparently, many people in this thread stopped watching TV in 1988.
I should add 24. Nothing like it ever at its peak. There were times you stopped breathing watching it.
The best season of these shows was Justified Season 2. (Mags Bennett.)
The best line? In The Wire when Stringer goes off on the guy for taking notes on a criminal ******* conspiracy.
Yes!I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson - This is obviously peak comedy and if you disagree you're wrong.
100% with you on Keri. Nice list. Some "newer" shows that I've liked are
The Americans
The Diplomat (OK, I kike Keri Russell)
Slow Horses
Veep
Fleabag
After Life
Sloppy Steaks!!I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson - This is obviously peak comedy and if you disagree you're wrong.
But in that regard and much like George Costanza they never seem to win. I thought Miles was a hoot and I liked Roz and Maddog.B/C he was a narcissistic a**hole maybe? I love Kelsey Grammar. I don't love the character.
+100 I liked it at the time but am rewatching it now and some of the later episodes I missed and it is just spot on with a lot of things. The episode where Cam and Mitch get married is one of the funniest things I've seen on network tv in a long time. Nathan Lane is hilarious.+1. Especially Modern Family. Its tone was to make fun of everything and everybody. How it achieved its balance of sweetness and zero PC is something awe-inspiring. Every damn episode.
Good pick. Whats crazy is I think the re-boot they did with the Black family was really well done as well. The twist at the end that dovetailed them was great.I think the Wonder Years was a great show. If you grew up in the 60’s or 70’s, it pretty much hits on the angst of puberty and wrestling with the social and family pressures of that era. And did it with drama and humor. All the actors were great and I had a huge crush on the sister.
Apparently, many people in this thread stopped watching TV in 1988.
Network TV is horrible. I literally haven't watched it in about 20 years. Looking strictly at network TV is like judging restaurants strictly by fast food.LOL.![]()
But I also see their side of things as well. If I'm looking at strictly Network tv it's not good. There are a few outliers like Tracker, Elsbeth and Matlock but thats about it. I'm not a fan of the NCIS originals series.
There has been some really good music put out the last 20 years and it's across a lot of genres.Content? TV has had a golden age in the past 20-25 years. With the advent of Netflix and streaming, a lot of money shifted towards TV show making the production so much better, as well as the actors. It's really not even close.
