She knows Iowa needs to move on from the twins and she wants to but the issue is the new coach has to be a clear upgrade. Until it's obvious this program is held hostage by an awful product. Stuck in the mud, no idea what back points are. Heavy hands to a high crotch and pray its clean because scrambling is only for eggs, not wrestling. No ability to wrestle in a phone booth, half the team shoots from the next county like Morningstar did.

Schwab, Kem, Spencer, Clark. I'd even call Borschall. He's been vocal about who's teaching tilting in that room. Because it's not. Either the recruit has it coming in or doesn't happen. Heck in Mike Evans case the coaches went backwards with him

If you're going to have a 57 year old head coach you better have some young dynamic assistants OR a really strong RTC. We have neither and as a result the program is regressing.
What really pisses me off is that this isn’t new or some overreaction. Outside of 2020 and 2021, it’s been the same crap for well over a decade. I don’t expect Iowa to win every year. PSU is unreal right now but Iowa should legit be in the mix to win a team title every 3 to 4 years. We should have guys who can finish takedowns consistently and wrestle tough in every position without looking completely lost when put into uncomfortable spots.

Morningstar had zero offense when he wrestled for Iowa, so why would we think he’s the guy to teach these kids to score points?

Bobby Telford? Give me a break.

If Tom and Terry were ever serious about fixing things, they would have spent the money to bring in someone like Nolf or Gwiz. They would have hired a real name to run the RTC and recruit top talent. Instead, they stuck with their band of yes-men, spent millions patching together a lineup with transfers year after year, and let Iowa slip further into irrelevance.

Time for Iowa to wake TF up and make a move.

If you’re gonna get a new coach it needs to be a can’t miss, slam dunk kind of hire, not just switch it up to switch it up. Not sure who fits that criteria right now
We had that chance two years ago with DT and Iowa completely blew it. Okie State was ready to hire Coleman and instead ended up making the biggest hire since Cael went to PSU.

What’s funny is I remember the thread after NCAAs with the Gadson tweet about Beth wanting to move on from TNT to bring in DT. All the Brands apologists laughed. They couldn’t imagine letting go of our mediocre staff to hire the most popular American wrestler in the last twenty years, even without any college coaching experience. Whose laughing now?

I’m sure their response will be “TNT is 2-0 vs DT,” but just like TNT, those people can’t look past their noses. Which program has the better trajectory over the next 2 to 5+ years? Anyone who says Iowa is fooling themselves.

Hiring Doug Schwab as a replacement for a top 3 wrestling blue blood would be very disappointing. Nothing wrong with Schwab but Iowa should be aiming much higher than that.
Who out there has experience to just hand over a top 3 program to? I don’t see anything wrong having a proven winner with very little. Assts play such a big role that a few young guns with proven winner seems like a win.

It's a November dual guys . Remove your shoe strings and drink a beer or smoke a joint. The sun will rise tomorrow
Uhh no. Thats the mentality that people have got way to comfortable with. It’s Iowa wrestling and it was against Isu. Expectations are to win every period, match, dual. Hawks looked bad and it’s a trend not an one off.

Stop pretending we haven’t seen the same nonsense for years. It’s like Groundhog Day. Same issues over and over. No changes with your staff or approach and no surprise, nothing changes with the results. Funny how that works.

I really like most of your posts Corby but please don’t act like this is a reaction to one dual!! If we aren’t willing to change things up, at the very least with new assistants then the whole thing needs blown up.
Come March the usual suspects will show up calling anyone frustrated 'casuals' and ensuring us that everything is completely fine. As I mentioned in another thread, their attitudes and low standards for this program are a big part of the problem. Iowa fans need to be upset about these recurring poor performances before apathy takes over and people stop caring. We are closer to that point than many realize.

After the first day of national duals nobody was saying this. Casuals don't understand and think Nolf and Dake and guys like that are the answer it's hilarious. People have no clue . Just because DT is in Stillwater now it's lets name every wrestler who was good.

Do you believe that Ryan Morningstar and Bobby Telford are the best Iowa can do for assistant coaches? Iowa fans should want things to get better, not just the bare minimum of the sun continuing to rise.
I think people don't understand what goes on and most have never stepped foot in a D1 room. And when a loss happens everyone says dumb sh*t

Yeah, because T&T and KF are her fault. Duh.
Bringing KF into this discussion is absurd. KF is running Iowa football and getting results with limited resources. Meanwhile, TNT is running Iowa wrestling and accomplishing less despite having more. This job feels like having the Bama football program without a real shot at a title for a decade. We are a blueblood and need to start acting like one.

Limited resources they get 105 scholarships. Wrestling has 9.9. And now NIL GO clearinghouse is a thing. And football NIL valuations dwarf wrestling valuations

Please, go ahead and enlighten us casuals. I didn’t realize wrestling at the D1 level was required to understand what happens in a wrestling room or the ins and outs of the sport. Funny how plenty of other highly successful people in wrestling can see Iowa’s shortcomings, yet you seem completely blind to them.

Well since you think wrestling has more resources than football no sense in trying to explain anything

You can't be serious in comparing KF’s job coaching Iowa football to the Brands running a blueblood wrestling program. By comparison, KF runs a football program with a top 30-35 NIL in college football. Iowa wrestling has a top 3 NIL program and still can’t get it figured out. One of these jobs starts you on third base. I’ll let you guess which one lol.

By comparison, in their respective sports, Iowa wrestling has more resources, and it isn’t even close. Are you being serious right now?

Iowa wrestling has it all compared to nearly every other program - money, tradition, and top-notch facilities, with only two programs coming close.

Now look at Iowa football. Compare its NIL, tradition, and facilities to the top 10 programs in college football.

You understand NIL GO clearinghouse is now a thing and all deals gotta be cleared. And wrestlers valuations arent 6 figures . It's ok the sun will come up tomorrow and March is 3 months away

Even if the deals aren’t what they once were, Iowa still dedicates more resources to wrestling than most other schools. It’s understandable that folks are getting frustrated

NIL valuations for football and wrestling are night and day. Also the money you speak of I assume is Bob's $ and he's said when Tom is done he's done donating. When Tom does retire some of you people are in for a rude awakening
