Better CL beat writer: Veazey or Rappaport?

Rappaport was the first of the MSU beat writers that utilized blogging between actual articles to bring us extra info. And I think we all loved it and hated to see him return to Alabama. And there were a lot of people initially unhappy that KV was going to be covering MSU because he had graduated from UMiss and had covered UMiss for the CL already.

But.... Now a few years into KV's coverage...which beat writer do you think does the better job at providing MSU information, stories, breaking news, etc?

Oh, I agree that Sekou was the best I've ever read. But that's why I didn't include him in the conversation.

Though it probably helped him that MSU was doing very, very well in sports during the time he was covering the Bulldogs. But I'll agree that Sekou was tops overall.

Veazey covered Alabama for the Decatur newspaper I believe. He started on the MSU beat when he started with the CL.</p>

started liking us a little too much. His summary of the last recruiting class he covered had me thinking Gabe Wallace was the steal of century.

I think Wallace was underutilized at the Clarion-Ledger. He was the other sports columnist but a few of his pieces started appearing in Southern Style (a thing on fitness comes to mind) before he was brought in to be a stopgap replacement for Rappaport.

He gets a lot of information and does it in a timely fashion. He does have the advantage of technology that wasn't available in the past, but he does a great job utilizing that technology. He thoroughly covers all issues - bad and good.

Some of our fans are just bitches.

I think KV tries to report everything: Good and bad and as much in between as he can.

MSU fans (like all fans) like to read the good, but dislike the bad. But Kyle (and Ian and Michael) try to be as impartial as they can.

I think Sekou had become a fan.

I do agree that Sekou was the best. But, I think Sekou was a little more intuitive than the other guys. He knew what the fan base wanted and gave it to them. I don't know if that made him a "fan" or not. The other guys just report the news while Sekou seemed to write for the fans. I think that is what most of these people are complaining about.

KV doesn't really care how we feel. He's just doing a job. Other writers may have been a little more sensitive. Which style is right or wrong? I don't know. But, I have no complaints about KV because he does what he's supposed to do. How can you fault a man for that?

I think they would tell him who he should try to get on the Dandy Dozen.

I really liked his writing style. I thought he took some interesting angles with his articles. Also, for someone who attended a lot of press conferences where Ian was present, he never had a problem asking Croom, Stansbury, or whoever the difficult questions. Even when Croom would try to stonewall him, he'd keep after him. I always liked that.

That's the reason he and Nick Saban had such a volatile relationship. And also why he's covering the Pats for the Boston Herald.

Still think VZ does a heck of a job though. Since he's joined us he's sacrificed a lot of time for us. Relentless effort. Every time he puts something on that blog it's a special deal. Relentless effort. An effort these fans know we deserve inside of us. The way he uses the technology shows ourselves how something special.

Seriously, that's a tough call. Both are good at what they do.
