Better to save Barker for next season?

With the o line as bad as it is so you think Johnson has a better shot at calling the signals this season.

He's obviously the better runner, and whoever is taking the snaps this season is likely to be running for their lives anyway....

The fans, the staff, the program needs to win now. You play whomever gives you the best chance to win.

If Barker gets healthy and gets his head on straight (since it hasn't been for the last 6+ quarters) then you roll with whomever moves the sticks. Right now, to me, it's Johnson's time.....until he quits moving it.

I'm reminded of a scene from Patton. One of his officers hadn't taken a beachhead yet and he was furious. So he fired him. Then he turned to the next guy. "You now have 12 hrs to break through to the beachhead or I'll fire you..."

We need more of this mindset.

Stoops cannot and will not save anyone at this point. He is trying to save his job right now. Some pretty horrid QBs have put up amazing numbers against NMSU. I am not on the Johnson ship yet. But I know Stoops will play whoever is better to him, he wont be saving anyone.

Save him for what? Next year's pummeling behind yet another putrid offensive line under Stoop's control.
