Bevo is headed to Oxford

Reb bud of mine said that UT asked if they could walk Bevo thru the Grove....
Let's see. Masses of people. Most wearing red Drinking heavily. That is a great idea. There could be several good stories to be told if that happened.

Finally come to visit. Hell, they'd probably gladly let Bevo **** on the field. I've never seen anything more blown out of proportion. Hosting top 10 conference games doesn't get them this excited. I've never seen so many men posting on facebook and such of their excitement for Matthew Mcconauhey coming to town...should that really be surprising though?

Bevo is a definitely a big *** cow. At the Cotton Bowl it got pissed off at Mrs. Lance for some reason and almost charged her.
In 1999 I was working in Austin, TX and one of my employees was a Member of the Silver Spirs (fraternity type student group that cares for Bevo and chaperones during games).
While Bevo is never sedated he did claim that since he grows up as a show steer that he is accustomed to the crowds.
You will see the silver spurs holding hoping ropes as well as cattle prods. But when puss comes to shove and Bevo wants to go a certain direction said Silver Spurs will quickly drop that rope and step aside. As has happened against Arkansas during the Cotton Bowl when Bevo considered charging that inflatable type Razorback mascot but quickly lost interest.
Also Bevo travels with a special carpet of his own ever since the cotton bowl switched to an artificial surface in the mid to late 90's. So no chance of leaving a lasting impression in the field at Oxfart.

The Silver Spurs are also those tea sippers that come out of the stands @ halftime, put on a pair of chaps and stand around the endzone w/ their dates, than take the chaps off and go back to their seats for the 3rd quarter. Saw that in Austin when we spanked them and thought that was pretty dorky, kind of like girls putting on cowboy boots with a dress.
