I cannot believe that Pope is starting BG over Moreno. Moreno is flat out been better than BG. I think that Pope promised BG a starting spot so he would return. Check out this comparison of the two on bbnstats.com. Starting Malachi will fix a lot of the problems of starting out games flat.

Can’t imagine BG will start much longer. He has been indefensible the last couple of games. Moreno is flawed but I don’t question where his head is at

Who knows what’s part of these NIL deals but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was promised to start if he stayed at UK. I don’t know but it just seems that way. Would be another major blunder if true.

Garrison needs 5 min a game at most. Moreno and Jelavic need all his burn.

But in the end BG is getting a pay check. That should throw this whole notion out the door that hes promised starter minutes. Its not like before when these kids played for no money, where everything was about trying to get an NBA pay check. BG should come off the bench and his consolation prize is that he now gets more money per minute played.

Moreno must start going forward, period

Moreno should be the young backup behind the veteran big who can score, defend and rebound, and Garrison should be on a mid major somewhere.

Oklahoma State was happy the day he left. I went by their board somewhere can’t remember which one, but they had a few long time posters saying thank God we can move on.

I’m not sure what Pope’s infatuation with Garrison is. Adopted son? Big Brother program?
Whatever delusion Pope is under with Garrison, it’s time to end it.

Moreno needs to be getting 30 plus minutes a game. He has the total package. Garrison has ability but just doesn't do much with it. It's time to narrow the roster down to 8 or 9 players that should play and go with it. The rest of the players are being nicely compensated while they get their education and spot minutes, so don't fell bad for them.

Moreno is an intelligent player that clearly wants to learn and get better.
Garrison is not an intelligent player and doesn't seem to put in the work to get better.

Moreno plays with heart.
Garrison does not appear to do this much of the time.

Both of these qualities speak to character.
Make of that what you will.

Really? I'm not saying you are wrong but I haven't seen it. Seems to me everyone agrees Moreno is better. Might be the only thing we all agree on. Lol
Yes. Not going to embarrass the main one. But he knows who I'm talking about 😯

Pope says he wants high character guys and we get Garrison.

I think he is good person off court, but it is better to mutually part ways, he is disaster for basketball team

Moreno in the starting lineup means less Moreno during the game. He is still young and makes silly fouls.
He needs more time but we have to live with the consequences that he may not make it through the game without fouling out.

Moreno has committed just 2 fouls the entire season.

Moreno has been one of the best players and the team and has potential to develop into maybe the best C freshmen we've had since Adebayo.

He seems cheerful and clearly loves his kid. I'm sure he would be great to hang out with while playing Call of Duty. After last season I would have been very clear with him that he was welcome to return as a role player, but if he wanted more than that he would have to earn it or look elsewhere.

Garrison gets 5 minutes moving forward until he either figures it out or quits.

Moreno gets 25 minutes at the 5 and Jelly gets 10 until JQ returns (if he ever does).

I figured Garrison would be at least serviceable this season, but he really just isn't.

How much time is playing though. Once you get tired, you start to reach, quit moving your feet.

The biggest indicator of where this whole thing is heading.. is if Pope puts BG on the bench and rolls with Moreno next game. That's an easy fix for him to start to right the ship. But if he sticks with BG, then it's clear he's got the same problem Cal had.

The annoying part here is.. BG is nowhere near to being a pro player, he HAS to know that.. so, is it really that big of a deal if he rides the pine and makes the same amount of money? I mean thats the whole positive with NIL, in that these guys are getting paid. No need to force certain rosters because of future NBA plans. It really shouldn't even be a debate..

I would be very happy to find out Garrison is walking the halls at another school looking to apply today. His effort was embarrassing

I wonder what that means for NIL? Like, if Garrison walks away on his own? Or if there's a problem so bad that the coach removes that player from the team.

I really don't see why we can't mold NIL deals to include performance-based criteria. Say it's a normal $1mil deal. But instead, it's $750k base, $900 if you make a Sweet16 and its $1.15 million.. something like that. It has to get to a point where there's SOME skin in the game for the players.

I said the same thing before. Even a pay per day scale, to keep guys from siting out. I don’t know if it can legally be done tho

Pope may tighten the rotation. At this point, it is obvious that MM is the better player and has an even higher upside. Play MM more and I agree with whoever posted to play Jel more. Once (hopefully) JQ is back everyone's minutes will decrease and at this point it has to be BG.

It is amazing how bad of a rebounder Garrison is given his size. In this last game, on 2 separate occasions a rebound hit the floor at his feet, and I'm not even sure that he reached for the ball.

This is most obvious first fix.

MD never shooting a 3 again is second.

Some defense is actually first fix.

Too many non shooters shooting.
I absolutely agree but I remember the day we signed Mo Di , Pope said he was an underrated shooter and wanted him shooting 3 to 4 threes a game. I believe that was a big selling point on getting him from Alabama.

Didn’t think much about it at the time but after seeing his shooting form ……that was a ridiculous statement.
