So we dropped YouTube tv and went with unlimited ESPN, but it looks like we can’t watch any big 10 games. How are any of you watching without a cable company?

It cracks me up when people ask how to watch a game on network television. Go to the store and buy the cheapest antenna you can.

The usual response though is, “I’ll just buy this other app/monthly subscription.”
That won't work for everybody, sir. Location, location.

Well we dropped YouTube tv so I’ve been wondering where the negative was going to be, sure enough leave it to the big 10.

He’s asking for a free link. Either give it to him or ridicule him mercilessly.

They are required by federal law to work in every location. Might need a chimney antenna though
There are locations that are just out of range regardless of antenna. Got a property in NW Alabama that ONLY got a PBS station out of Cullman or somewhere. Not a NBC, CBS, FOX, or ABC remotely strong enough. Neighbors in the area said it was cable or nothing. Fortunately I had a hot spot for Netflix. It now has fiber so viewing options there have greatly improved.

And an antenna amplifier
I have some friends that live in Tupelo, in the Elvis Presly Lake area that can not get WTVA. They had a qualified technician look at it.
Of course now, the broadcast antenna is South of Houston. ???
The lower levels of required broadcast signal strength is BS.

We were similar, but finally found an antenna and direction combo that works. I basically have 1 spot to point toward Houston the avoid a tree line and the neighbor's roof. Works pretty well until the inclement weather hits which is really when you need it the most.

was a teen by the time we got abc and fox.
As a young lad growing up in Meridian, we only had 1 station that tried to cover all 3 networks. Even Birmingham only had 2 stations at the time, and I believe Jackson only had 2.

Love my antennas. The one on the roof for my porch TV is the most reliable and gets the most channels. I guess I’ll have to sit out there more often with a beer. Oh well.

An antenna means flipping between inputs on the TV.
Flipping between inputs on the TV means using the TV remote.
Using the TV remote means having multiple remotes.

One remote is better than more remotes.
I don't miss the days where you needed to have handle a remote for the TV, a remote for cable/sat, a remote for the DVD player, and a remote for the vcr.

Some of y’all didn’t grow up with 3 channels and it really shows.
Growing up in the Pine Belt we had WDAM Laurel-Hattiesburg, that was the only dependable one. Sometimes we could get WTOK from Meridian. On a really good day WLOX from the Coast or one of the Jackson ones. On an excellent day we could get WWL from New Orleans but you had to put some "tin foil" on the antenna to help, and when you finally got it if anybody in the room moved you may lose the signal and suffer the rath of the rest of the family for losing the signal

I'm amazed today in Starkville that on a $70 antenna 10' off the ground on a piece of PVC pipe I can get NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox and PBS along with all of their sub channels which funny enough I watch more than the actual network channels. I watch way more MASH, Andy Griffith, Westerns, etc than I do the new crap on the big network channels

You know they have multi-device remotes now-a-days. Used to be you buy a universal that run multiple devices, but I just discovered my mom's smart tv remote will work her tv and a firestick plugged into it.

We had a Dish remote that did like 85% of the functions we wanted. That was probably 15 years ago. After that, it was a tivo with antennae OTA TV, and that remote also did almost everything but not everything and multiple remotes were still needed.

It's been roku remotes for over a decade now. We touch the TV remote every few months, maybe. Simple small remote and works for what we need.

Maybe I am lazy. I would rather stream whatever is on NBC thru Peacock than flip back and forth and use the antennae that is still mounted to our house and has supported bird nests for the last decade.
