Arnold is content to go 0-0 until the final 30 seconds and either win or lose with the last shot. I don’t know how he hasn’t figured out that you will lose more of those than you win. Frustrating.
In his defense he’s wrestled like 10 matches in his career at his actual weight class but I get it man it’s frustrating

Wow - Gabe gets taken down with basically 1 second left - I think he was hoping for SV
Just sloppy there, frustrating. But not sure he would have been able to score in SV. Kudos to him for battling at multiple weights this year, just undersized here and really needs to work on offensive confidence this offseason. Has the potential to be really good at 174.

I mean, he’s done it at every weight he’s wrestled at collegiately. I think that’s just who he is right now. He’s got decent offense but I think he trusts his defense more. I just hope he can put it all together one of these days and actually use his offense to actually complement his defense.

Just finished watching Gabe Arnold lose in the last 5 seconds. Heart breaking! To me this is a colossal failure of the coaching staff. I would characterize Gabe’s wrestling losses this year to a strategy that is antithetical to the once Brands dominance! In addition, the coaches indifference to allow this to happen falls squarely on the coaches! And in addition, how does the #2 ranked wrestler in the country at 184 manage to wrestle on one knee and basically win by one or two points. There is a real lethargic attitude in getting a dominant win. Come on coaches get off your lazy asses and prove you deserve to be a Hawkeye coach!

Size difference wasn’t the reason to have a brain freeze with 3 seconds left. No excuse for that
Gabe has responsibility but mental toughness & match awareness falls on the coaches. Kudos to Gabe for wrestling whenever/whoever asked. Sad ending to a typical Hawk match. Been said before but we wrestle not to lose matches versus going out and taking it…

He is what he is. Dropping to 174 wont change it or morph him into an offensive juggernaut
I believe he will score a whole lot more points next year at 174 than he has in his first three seasons combined! It’s truly unheard of for him to bump up 23 pounds even more so with the height discrepancy he will face at 197. His strategy has to be keep it close and hope to steal one at the end.
