excerpt:

Athletic director Gene Taylor says he’s been on the phones with his “friends in other leagues,” and none believe another move is imminent. As we saw with OU and Texas, and other realignment moves years ago, these things do happen fast and often without warning.

There have been many, many rumors about where things could head next. West Virginia is reportedly interested in the ACC, though that league’s next move is unclear, as they probably want to hold off on doing anything that could threaten the eventual possibility that Notre Dame joins as a full member.

Notre Dame does not need nor will not join any conference. They will have their own streaming network and pay-per-view games on Peacock, and will keep all of their bowl earnings.

If the ACC tries to remove those Olympic sports, the already struggling ACC network will experience more issues. ND doesn’t care if we join or not. WVU doesn’t help the ACC financially except for may a travel budget, but does bring successful athletic and brand recognition to the conference.

ACC doesn’t need to expand and it’s not in a race to add West Virginia who is only being considered being a member in a BIGPAC merged conference.

The ACC can only renegotiate contracts if they add schools. ND has the sort of ratings that significantly impact a tv contract while WVU is currently being undersold by media. WVUs tv ratings show they generate better tv/ streaming numbers than the majority of the ACC- so should absolutely add to any contract and make more sense than anyone outside of ND to add. WVU without question also helps schools sell more tickes as a large contingent of WVU fans would attend closer games and lots of fans live in the same states as ACC schools.

But per the KState AD. There isnt anything imminent.

Texas/OU have an 18 month waiting oeriod to depart so we are looking at 2023 before things start happening again most likely.

True on the wait period but they want to move ASAP. So they will be working with their ESPN partners to further destruct the conference. They want us and Kansas to make moves. They want the rest of the conference to go Pac12. Its in their interest. Can they make it happen? Idk.

Totally agree with you in ND. Only way they join us if staying independent leaves em out of the playoffs.

ACC may just be knee deep in their own troubles soon.

Is this how ACC will unravel?

ACC Network contract 'look-ins' provide comfort to FSU's Thrasher

“So there are going to be three opportunities during the course of the contract to take a look at it,” Thrasher told Warchant.com. “To take a step back and see how it’s doing: Do there need to be adjustments? Things like that. ESPN agreed to that. The ACC agreed to it. So the first one will be in 2021. So we’ll have about 2½ years of experience, and we’ll see where we are.

“If we have to make some adjustments, we’ll make some adjustments.”
