Hurts the teams in the NCAA tourney. I watched so many games where the refs really let the teams play. It looked like Big east style physical play brand of basketball.

The Big 12 ticky tack quick whistle officiating during the year does the teams no favor when it comes tourney time.

With that said, it should benefit our team greatly considering Huggs style of play works best when the officials lets them play. I just hope that is the case today.

I think it has more to do with Baylor and ISU just choking and the fact that Texas just isn't any good.

Regardless of officiating excuses, Baylor and ISU should never lose to UAB and Georgia Southern.

I can't blame referee in any way for yesterday's events.

Coaching mistakes were everywhere.

ISU, facing a hyper-athletic UAB team (how they hung in the game anyways) decides to give the ball to Niange in the post........... an undersized, unathletic PF............ to try to score in a double team of 2 bigger players. The Mayor didn't have his team ready to play from the get go, committing 9 turnovers in the 1st half alone (a team that committed 11 a game all season).

Baylor.............. Scott Drew. Nothing more needed said.

As Numbers stated, UT hasn't been that good all year. Barnes has to go.

These are good teams. It's not like football where there's an obvious physical difference between the players.

Lots of these mid-majors come into the tournament loaded with seniors. There's a reason why they're in the tournament - they can play.

ND/UNC where both one basket away from being upset too.

I can't agree with Steel on this one. I watched most of the ISU game. As the game wore on it was obvious which team wanted the game and which team was acting like all they had to do was roll down the court and hoist up a shot. Baylor, on the other hand, took control of their game in the second half and then relaxed way too early against a team that was not going to quit.

ISU was beaten by a more motivated team. Baylor gave their game away in the last few minutes. Both of them did not take their opponents as serious as they should have and they lost.

The ISU players looked surprised that the UAB players were actually playing like they thought they could win. I really thought they might wake up in the second half.

Also, RJ Hunter from Georgia State might be a 1st Round draft pick this year. Having a 1st rounder on your team makes a big difference in the tournament.

They aren't without talent, these kids can play.

I hate excuses. They weren't prepared and ran into....

....two HIGHLY MOTIVATED, well prepared teams who matched up well with what they do. The Big 12 has a bullseye on its back with all the media hype and 7 teams selected so they'd better be prepared to back up the swagger. The first 3 weren't, the others have no excuse given what has happened so far.

In his press conference yesterday, Hurley said he told his players to be physical with us. Even said they might have to foul a few times to get used to the aggressive nature of the game with us. I really hope they do. Whether we make them or not isn't as important as putting their starters on the bench with foul trouble.

I don't think the refs will take this game out of the players hands. I hope not, anyway.

Whoa............wait a minute. I never said the officiating was the reason the three big 12 teams lost.

Texas lost to a better team and a better coach. The Butler kids were ready, and Texas has Rick Barnes, nough said. BTW, I think Barnes wont be back next year.

ISU was outplayed from start to finish. Niang couldn't hit the ocean from a boat and they continued to try to run their offense through him. They hardly played defense and the last play was idiotic. Go to Niang in the post against bouncy bigs?? Hoiberg laid an egg.

Finally, Baylor and Scott Drew got beat up and out hustled by a hungry team that had some big time talent.

My point is the big 12 teams are used to whistles on very little contact and our officiating does not prepare the players in our conference for the physicality of the NCAA tourney. In no way is it an excuse for the *** whoopings I saw yesterday.
