When do they generally post this info? Seems like for the teams on the edge, it would be beneficial for them to know early what bracket they could potentially be in.
At the end of the season, 48 1A teams qualify for the playoffs. The 24 largest will be 1AA and the 24 smallest will be 1A. The ADMs are released the last week of the regular season. There's really no way to determine the cutoff until you know what teams are in and what their official ADM numbers are. All you have to go on right now is previous years, and that's at best an educated guess.
Howerinjr spelled it out nicely, and as BK mentioned, it is generally around the 500-525 mark.
As far as looking at a few previous years
Last year the biggest 1A was Rosewood 492
smallest 1AA Hobbton 501
2017:biggest 1A Community School of Davidson 499 smallest 1AA Rosewood 509
2016 the three biggest 1A schools were Murphy 495 , Manteo 502 and Mitchell 506.
