Here's our lengthy write up Thursday's positive news stories.

C.J. Conrad and Chris Westry were honored by the SEC as members of the league's All-Freshman team and defensive tackle Kobe Smith signed his financial aid paperwork with the program in advance of the dead period, which effectively means he'll have unlimited contact with UK's coaches and basically no contact with any other coaches.

Pleasant surprise that K. Smith is intending to enroll early. More serious UK FB fans than I may have seen this coming, but I certainly didn't. Of course, as pointed out in the article, this isn't a 100% ironclad guarantee he shows up, but it's looking pretty good because he is sorely needed.

I spoke with Smith's parents when they visited for the Louisville game and I would be very surprised if he flipped. I think UK's in the clear. Good prospect with nice upside. Would have gotten a lot more pub this year but for a nagging injury that's no longer hampering him. Heard from someone in Georgia that he actually played better than Rivals100 defensive tackle Julian Rochester in a game between their teams in the playoffs before they were eliminated. I don't want to exaggerate him because he's not perfect but he's a better-looking defensive linemen in the short and long term than a lot of the guys Kentucky has signed and even in the Mark Stoops era.

This has been anticipated. The comment was made several weeks ago that he'd enroll early but had "some work to do" that I thought probably meant if he'd get his classwork completed. Obviously he did.

Do you think he will play next year or redshirt?

He and the other DTs committed, Cross and Looney, really, really need to RS. Unfortunately, with the shape UK's DL will be in next year, they'll almost have to play. '16 DL is very thin.

Saw Smith play in person this fall - huge guy, SEC size. Very agile and active. Played offense and defense.

Given his size, early enrollment, 2016 DL rotation, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see Smith play next fall. Hopefully Cross and Looney can and will RS.

Smith will be #2 on the depth chart at nose. Others should be able to rs. I think that is why we are trying to get a second nose in this class

Hopefully Cross/Looney can RS but the '16 DL is razor thin.

Meant and Middleton played some NT the last few games out of necessity.

Smith may end up being the best player in the class when it's all said and done.

IMHO... Him, Young, Jackson and Daniel are almost locks for the NFL, if they can stay healthy and progress like they should. Gilliam, Griffin, Bannerman and a few others could be in that same boat too.
