All, getting the ball rolling a little early on this.

Saw the following tweet:

Not such what Voinovich brings that Williams doesn’t (not that either option is a particular great one). But huge misuse of funds on Williams (if true).

Everything Tom does is antithetical to what he says.

Iowa allocated 5 weights due to not meeting minimum match requirements/record.

For a program that likes to wrestler they sure don’t like to wrestle.

It’s head scratching. Not going to an open tournament is detrimental to match count. Don’t worry there will a myriad of excuses coming to explain to us why it’s not his fault.

Funds? Id say misuse of talent unless JW is hampered by something. Voinovich is a great backup but that is it. Hope Im wrong if he goes.

Is Brands intentionally f*cking up? VV at 157? CTE is really having its way with his head if this is who he trots out.

nothing at all , Williams is easily the better option. He can compete with just about anyone in the country , may not win but yeah. VV will just keep it close. Just a dumb decision unless it’s something deeper

What a weird way 157 was handled. Williams got basically every tough match and anytime there was an easier opponent VV got the call. Weird that it seems like he is being rewarded for winning against much easier opposition. The matches Williams kept close VV wouldn’t have even been competitive. Also they both were at the SS which Williams won and VV took 5th

Voinovich got blown out in the 2 matches that Williams had to face weekly quality wise. This decision just reeks of someone who knows he’s gone, and is just doing this as a big F U.

Couldnt Brands at least tell the fans why VV at 57? At this point in the season, I don't know what would be wrong about just letting us know if it was injury, wrestle off, or attitude or personal?
Isn’t it obvious — JW although very athletic gets taken down and rode for the rest of the period time and time again. If JW wanted to wrestle, he would have been the guy. He wants nothing to do with a competitive match

There just doesn't seem to be any fire left in him. When the going gets tough, he just quit multiple times. Sucks because the potential is there with him.

What does this mean?
Conferences earn allocations to send wrestlers to the NCAA tournament on a weight by weight basis based on a formula that is established in the off season. Iowa wrestlers at five weights did not meet the crieria to earn an allocation for the conference. For some of the weights, and maybe all, that allocation went to another conference. This puts some wrestlers at risk of missing out on the tournament that they may have otherwise qualified for. That could be a wrestler from another team in the conference or from Iowa.

We should get 4th but you never know. If we wrestle really well 3rd is not out of question. If we wrestle poorly 5th is a possibility. I really don't see a path to 2nd or 6th. I think we'd be more likely to take 2nd than 6th.
If we finish let than 4th in BTT that's another nail in the coffin for the head guy.

I expect us to compete with Nebraska for 3rd although Ohio is dealing with a lot of injuries currently as well.

Is there a chance that we entered VV at 57 but can still send JW? Seems like something really odd going on here. Like how/why would that benefit us?

Neither had enough matches for an allocation anyway, correct? Even then, Jordan was 7-7 so he wouldn't have met the criteria, regardless. So, hey, with how they have done this stuff in the past, who knows if Williams ends up being the guy last minute. I wouldn't expect it, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it happened...
