I would say he will be one if not the highest paid players next year in basketball. I think Pope knows he needs him not only for the team but to show he can recruit.

The whole saga with Stokes is embarrassing. It’s all for a goofy PR win —- and ironically, even if Pope gets the guy, 99% of these same people begging for the dog and pony show will non-stop remind everyone how Stokes’ first option is Kansas? Who does this appease again? Big mistake, playing with fire.
Maybe people will start to believe me now. I’m sure they will merge this with my post from a bit ago like they’ve been doing the others but it’s 50/50 or maybe a Kentucky lean at this point. Money talks.

I'm quite sure he's a ball hog & when he's taking all those shots & not making them on an off night, coupled with the fact Chandler was wide open & Stokes didn't pass him the ball, yeah, Kentucky fans will say really nice things about him lol.
Sports coaches/teams often overcorrect from one season to the next. So I definitely expect at least one significant overpay this spring from UK either in Stokes or the top of the portal.

when you factor in the fact that he will likely be better than any player in the pope era and any transfer in tbe portal (most likely) why not do it

No one knows what Stokes is going to do. I think the fact he is from Ky gives UK an edge.

Because I don’t factor that in. People are thinking of this guy like Peterson, Dybantsa, Boozer, Peat, Wilson, Ament, etc and I’ve heard he is worse than all of those. We already know how much chemistry and harmony matter for Pope’s teams to operate correctly and this kid has a bad reputation insomuch that many other top players didn’t want to play with him, such as Crowe Jr. I like Pope but I feel like everytime he’s tried to score PR points, it has blown up in his face instead of just doing what he’s best at. I don’t dislike this, I hate it.

its so easy to say that, but a lot of people saw peat wilson and ament as 11 or 12 ppg guys and look how good they ended up being

You’re missing the whole point, man. My post had nothing to do with with how common the Peterson situation is with regards to specifics. It has to do with control. There are coaches of Self’s reputation that can’t control some of these guys, yet some of you want a freshman “stud” so bad you’ll convince yourself Pope can hold Stokes in check, who has a much worse reputation. I’m not buying it and no one rational should.
It’s alarming to me that with all the posting you do, you don’t recognize a joke that’s been a topic in about 30 threads recently. So, post often, read none. Typical. Carry on now, next thread due in 15 minutes.
