They won't be classified as a winner until about 2016. Doubt they give two ***** about expansion or the teams involved in it.

You mean they don't care that they are down 30 scholarship players and on top of that won't have to play Texas, Oklahoma, AM, Ok. St, and Texas Tech? They stay at 3rd or 4th best now at worst with the reductions. Had those teams came they drop way down the list. Yeah, they don't care a bit.

They are still loaded with talent and will continue to pull in 5-star players...they just won't have as many

Hell, they still have 2 of the top 5 QB's in the country committed right now..and they will do what Bammer did by having lots of good walk-ons receiving pell grants...don't you worry bout USC

With this probation and some mediocre coaching, they could very easily go back to those days again.

at least USC will have to play a conference championship game now. Texas won't.

Also, Texas will get their own TV network plus they won't play a single road game in a 80K plus stadium. Their only legitimate threat is OU and they play every yearon a neutral field. Even that neutral field will end up being Dallas stadium.

and as we saw last year- they will still be coached very well on defense....

Some of you need to realize they are about to have 4-star walk-ons playing for them down the road...they are going to have the players...Kiffen may 17 it up, but they will have talent

Dang. I guess I didn't realize that. They really do have it easy. Thinkofthe nightmare SEC road trips with big, loud, hostile stadiums. Try to win at Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, LSU,and Florida.

getting their own TV network out of the deal and no Nebraska means lots of BCS berths for them...

Just meant outside of them, USC's life just got alot easier today and they will continue as a top program

They've never had toplay OU or Tex and they still don't. Now, they've potentially got a championship game to play. And, of course, there's probation. Recruiting, by their standards, will suffer.

So,tell me againhowlife got easy for USC?

They "only" won 9 last year and I don't see them getting better with Kiffen instead of Carrollplus the penalties. And no, there won't be a huge influx of 4-star walkons. Maybe one or two, if that many.

Yeah, I'm sure there are loads of bluechippers willing to drop $80k/2 years on an iffy situation, shaky head coaching and no bowls.

First of all, USC is a private school. I don't know what their tuition is, but its a bit tougher to pay your own way there than a public school. Quality D1 talent will not likely turn down scholarship offers from good programs to walk on at USC, unless their parents are pretty wealthy (or if they have access to Reggie Bush's former agent).

A quick look at USC's 2010 roster lists 23 Seniors, and an amazing 32 Juniors. I could be off by a couple since my eyes are old, and some of those guys might be walkons. I guess they could redshirt some of those Juniors, but you are looking at about 50 scholarship players who will leave over the next two years. They can only add 15 scholarship players per year, for 30 replacements. They will lose another 20+ in the 3rd year, with another limit of 15 new grants in aid, leaving them with less than 60 total scholarship players.

I don't care how talented those 45 new players are, competing with less than 60 scholarship athletes is tough. Even if they do manage to get some 4 star players to walk on, it will not overcome their depth issues. 1 or 2 key injuries an they will really be in trouble.

Now, I'm not talking armegeddon here. After all, they still have Orgeron, the greatest recruiter in the history of college football. And we all know how awesome Lane Kiffin is, right? Nevertheless, once the 2 year bowl ban is over, USC is looking at another 3 years minimum to really be relevant again.....and that's if Lane Kiffin is truly better than Nick Saban.

it's not hard to comprehend that it's easier for them than had Texas, OU, and the boys entered the Pac-10...Texas staying put makes them a big winner today...they remain King of the Pac-10 for now...we'll see what probation does to them

USC is not going to fall back to the middle of the conference...they will get players and will also be creative doing it

they may be down for a year or two but no more than that.. and when I say down, I mean 8-9 wins instead of 11-13 wins

The USC campus is in a pretty bad neighborhood (there are stories of gunfire interrupting practices), the tuition is very high, and UCLA is close by, ready to pick up all the top recruits that would've played for the Trojans.

Of course, they have Rick Neuheisal, so it's probably only a matter of time before they get put on probation to.

I think USC will be OK. They will be down some, but as long as Orgeron can recruit, I think they will be fine.

Usually these teams get put on probation and people think it's really going to put the program in a tailspin for years and years, and it just doesn't seem to work that way.

Probation was supposed to cripple Mississippi, Auburn, and Bammer when they were hit too, but it didnt. Hell, Auburn went undefeated on probation. USC has 2 of the top 5 QB's committed for next year. Orger-moron got a rahtard into school at Mississippi, their recruiting is not going to suffer. And you can spew all this about expensive tuition and such, but they will get quality walk-ons in that program- you watch.

didnt do a bad job his 1st year at Tennessee, considering what he took over. They should have beaten Saban and Bammer, but the referees and not being able to kick a FG stepped in. Monte Kiffen will make damn sure they are good on defense as long as he is there, and they will be able to pull some games out on that alone.

They play in a conference with only 2-3 other solid teams, so it's not like they are playing an SEC schedule. And the 5-star recruits aren't going to stop signing to play in LA

He might actually be a really good college coach, but he has proven nothing to date. Scoff at the Pac-10 all you want, even Pete Carroll only managed to go undefeated in conference in '04 and '05 (and, of course the '05 wins are now all vacated). Kiffen will have at least one losing season before all of this is over.
